Should I seal my travertine floors? How often?

I had travertine tile installed in my mudroom/laundry room/pocket office about a year ago. The flooring guy asked me if I wanted to fill the holes with grout, which I declined. I wanted the look of an ancient Roman patio in this room, and I liked the pits and unfinished edges of the tiles.

He sealed the tiles and told me I have to do this periodically. Since some of the tiles are under the washer and dryer, he said those tiles can be sealed less often.

It has been a year now. Should I seal them every year? What do I use to do this? I hear on Houzz here and there that the product can be bought at Home Depot.

It is a small room, but it is a high traffic area. Everyone comes in this room right before leaving the house and comes to this room first when they come in to take off shoes, boots, unload backpacks, etc... I like a weathered look, but I don't know what will happen if I don't seal them.
