Mine come up in about a week. But some times they take longer.

My question to you is this: Where did you order your seeds from? Was it ebay or amazon.com? Or an established web site?

If you still have some seeds left, try again. Plant them about 1/8" to 1/4" deep in moist soil. Keep the soil moist but not soaking wet.

If seeds don't sprout within 14 days, I throw them out and start over. I plant my seeds in 1.5" cell seed starter trays. I plant 3-4 seeds per cell. They usually all sprout but if only one sprouts, then that is fine. After a week or two, I decide which is the most vigorous and keep that one and snip the others.

I am not sure where you live, but unless you live in a climate that allows year round growing or close to it, you are getting started awful late at this point. But if you want to start over and need seed, I might be able to scare a few up to send you if necessary.

I bought the seeds from ebay.com and I will plant the rest I have left and I live in Southern California.

malik: the chances of your seeds being reaper seeds and purchased off of Ebay are about 3 in 100. Most of the vendors on there are scammers. They sell seeds and by the time people realize they are bell pepper seeds or Jalpeno seeds, they have already closed their account after selling 500 packs of bogus seed.

If you buy online, always buy from a reputable vendor that has their own web site. You will get several suggestions from list members. Otherwise, if you just ask on the forum, many will be happy to send you seeds in return for postage or even trade seeds. If you want, I will check my stash. I am pretty sure I have some left over and will send them. PM me your address.

Just throw the Ebay seeds away. You are wasting your time. It is probably better they didn't even sprout or you would have been growing them for months before realizing they were Jalapenos or some other common variety.

You should have plenty of growing season left to get the Reapers to produce if you live in SoCal.

For the soil, it should be well draining. Peat based soils are not well draining. If you are growing just one plant, you could use Miracle Grow Orchid Mix. It has a lot of bark and Perlite in it which helps with drainage. Make sure whatever you use is a "potting mix" or "Container soil". Regular garden soil is no good in containers. 3-5 gallon containers are recommended.

MG potting soil is mostly Peat, but many have good luck with it. Just don't overwater it and let it dry out between waterings.

I can't begin to count the number of people posting peppers on this forum over the last 4 or 5 years asking: Is this really a Ghost Pepper or Is this really a Carolina Reaper, with pictures of Cayennes, Jalapenos or more commonly Habaneros. Too bad those people don't hit a forum like this before buying seeds on line. It just sux to invest $10 for a few seeds only to find out 4 months later that you were screwed. Probably the worst par is that you wasted a whole growing season.

esox07 i agree with u,i bought from ebay and I'm afraid that I'm going to ask the same thing(is this a Carolina reaper?) making it 5 or 6 years. however i do have some hope on some sellers. from their pictures,description and items their selling they seem real.

You have to find sellers that have been selling seeds for several years. Otherwise, they just open an Ebay account late in the fall when everyone is thinking about starting plants. Then over the next 5 or 6 months they sell maybe 500 packs of Carolina Reaper seeds at $5.00 per pack. That amounts to $2,500 dollars. The buyers all plant their seeds in January or February and don't ever get a pepper pod until about May and find out they really have Orange Habaneros or Jalapenos or whatever. By the time the negative feedbacks start racking up and Ebay shuts them down, they have pocketed $2,500 bucks and dissapear. They may have 5 or 6 Ebay accounts all at once selling all the Hot new designer peppers of the year. It is a common scam that happens over and over. And then we sit on this list telling person after person they got screwed when they post a picture of a habanero and ask it it looks like a Reaper. If you find a seller that has a bunch of positive and little negative feed back that has been selling seed for more than a year, then they should be one of the very few reputable seed suppliers on ebay. But you better do your homework if you want to go the ebay or amazon route. It is so much easier and safer and less expensive to simply do a swap with someone on this forum of just ask. I have sent at least 100 people seeds for free. Some require a self address stamped envelope but most of the time, I will just send them the seeds as it is less complicated.

Mine took 2 1/2 weeks.i thought the same thing but now there doing great!!! The take a very long time to grow

Yep, for Reaper seeds, he (Puckerbutt) is probably the best source. But there are several other reputable sellers out there, you just have to do a little home work. Asking on this list for suggestions is always a good way to go. But rule #1 is never use Ebay or Amazon.com. And your chances of getting what you are expecting is real high by trading with other list members or simply supplying a SASE for the seeds you want. Many on this list harvest and store seeds. Far more than we can possibly use and most will gladly help out a fellow pepper grower.
