Mixing metals, yay or nay?
Comments (19)All good thoughts! Particularly the comment about doing nickel pulls instead of chrome but alas they're already installed. I went by a showroom earlier and the satin brass is quite pretty (though the polished brass looked really yellow). The salesman said brass was huge right now. Saw some satin brass doorknobs that were gorgeous but pretty sure I'd regret doing those. Ugh decisions. This house will never be done. I'm not sure if I can commit to the brass. Unless there was another piece that anchored the brass choice I think it might seem too random. Maybe if I did the stools as someone pointed out......See MoreTiling a "backsplash" on a non-working kitchen wall. Yay or nay?
Comments (20)Fori is extremely displeased, haha. I would gladly help you if I could, but I have so much to learn yet! I just need to get the BF to let me have a go at the wet saw. I think I would totally enjoy the whole tile cutting process - I have enough "artsy-craftsy" in me that it's kinda right up my alley. rebunky, I totally get it. I have SO many projects that are on my to-do list. *sigh* Never enough time. Yanno, it's funny, back when I started this whole update project (not a remodel - nothing so grand as what you all are doing!) I was taking trash out one night and a neighbor stopped by to chat. I told her I was painting my cabinets and she mentioned that she had been working on her kitchen for a year. And I remember thinking..."A year?!? What the heck? She's retired what is taking her so long??" HAHAHAHA!!! I was clueless. A noob. I am terrible at visualizing changes - I have to see pics of how it could look. And even then, I am terrible at making a decision. So I am very thankful for those here have more experience and a better "eye" that I do....See MoreQuartz countertops - seam and corner joint/is it fixable?

Comments (20)Thanks Crystalpea That is an interesting tile/back splash! What is it called... What is the Granite slab called? I was looking at Daltile subway tile in a biscuit color. Very simple... I don't think I can go with a big pattern as I really will not have much back splash area. Will definitely go up around window and take the corner shelfs out and paneling. Once I get the counter in than will get a better idea of back splash but it will be very simple subway or solid color no pattern......See MoreAmy
