Hard time keeping Stainless steel Appliances clean?
Comments (135)Most of my appliances are GE, and I clean them with white vinegar and polish with olive oil, and they look great. But I have a Samsung refrigerator and it seemed like nothing would work, then I read an old post about Magic Erasers. The eraser worked great, and I just dried with paper towels and they look better than new. I tried the Magic Eraser on a small area on my GE dishwasher but it did not work well and made it looked worse. I cleaned it again with vinegar and oil and looks better again....See MoreAre you sick of stainless steel??
Comments (63)Came across this site when looking for a Graphite gray refrigerator. I have the DW from Adora and love the color and it shows no prints/drips. Unfortunately I am finding that GE Adora is the only manufacturer who makes appliances in this color, AND they only make two S by S fridges, one DW, and one stove choice available in graphite gray. I am hoping I didn't make a mistake buying the DW in a color that may not take off and will leave me little or no choice in design if I wish to match DW. I would love a bottom mount frige rather than S by S, and have no interest in French doors. Any suggestions? Or am I stuck with SS or black?...See Morestainless steel vs. stainless look a like
Comments (11)I agonized over this when we did our kitchen 3 yrs ago, and again this past winter when we finally updated the refrigerator. (We had kept the glaring white one when we remodeled because it was only 3 yrs old at the time.) I ended up going with everything stainless. I have 2 kids (6 yrs old & 11 yrs old) and a messy husband. The hardest appliance to keep looking good is the dishwasher. It is just touched/handled so many times and stuff just drips. I was surprised with the stainless refrig (with water & ice to the door) that it stays looking pretty good. I had a "training session" for everyone when it arrived and we all try to use the handles. Nonetheless, about once every 2 - 3 weeks, I end up using a SS spray and wiping everything clean. (I drape old towels over the adjacent cabinets and on the floor because of overspray.) In between times, I can usually lessen smudges by a slightly damp miracle cloth. So, if I had to do it again, I would definitely keep the SS stove and range because of the "restaurant look" from a design standpoint. I would try to do a cabinet-covered dishwasher and refrigerator though. Good luck. (BTW, since I already had all the other appliances in place when I shopped for the new refrig, I didn't go with a ss look-alike because I didn't think it would match closely enough to the stainless that I already had.) --DJ...See MoreWhat Major Purchase Do You Feel You Really Screwed Up On?
Comments (54)Also got a kick out of the responses! I don't HATE our Frigidaire fridge, but I do HATE the ice makers. It has two, one in the bottom freezer & one in the door. They never both work at the same time. The bottom one has completely quit, and the top one has a mind of it's own. It will work for awhile, quit, and then when we have a power outage, it will work again for awhile. I've tried to recreate a power outage by flipping the breaker. Doesn't work. Has to actually be power out and back on I guess. Makes absolutely no sense. Best purchase/gift ever is our little under the counter ice maker. The thing has ONE job, and it does it like a champ!!! Three ice makers in our house and that one supplies 95% of the ice....See MoreNothing Left to Say
