Anyone growing new Kordes climbers Aloha, Amadeus, Laguna, Jasmin
Comments (6)I have one year plants of Aloha & Laguna. So far I'm most impressed with Aloha which put on about 10-12 feet of growth in our short season last year. Laguna hasn't so far put on as much growth as Aloha, but it is a very nice rose and I've heard lots of good things about it, so I'm anxious to see how it does this year. All of our new Kordes roses have really done well for us considering they were just planted last year. Moonlight is another nice one although it has less petals. All have been very disease resistant if one year can tell the story! Amadeus has not done much so far and I'm not crazy about the flowers and I have just planted Jasmina and Golden Gate, so I can't comment on them yet. Comments (9)I am sure this rose is going to be popular. You have something to look forward to!! Bright almost fuchsia pink flowers. Flexible canes that are easy to train and complete resistant to both blackspot and mildew. Leslie: it is very thorny but I did not notice the thorns in pairs on the picture. Mostly they are singles. It has been completely resistant to blackspot and mildew and I have not sprayed it (no need to). Here is a picture of the leaves in the spring before it bloomed(it has grown a lot since then and gave a good fall flush): I do not know how high this rose can grow. In Germany in Sparrieshoop at the Kordes Headquarter they grow them on the walls and here Laguna looked like this(lots of flowers and buds!!!: So I would think it can reach about 12 feet: The flower starts cupshaped and develop into a rosette. To see more pictures of this rose see these links since very few pictures exists online: Onewheeler posted a picture of this rose in this thread (copy and paste to adress bar to see): http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/rosesant/gal0908294816393.html And Ceterum from this forum also posted a picture of Laguna in this thread: in the link below Here is a link that might be useful: Ceterums Picture of Laguna...See MoreNewflora Kordes roses - let's rate them to provide feedback
Comments (185)Flowersaremusic I agree with you on above climate ect. Mine was nine years old and had not been nearly as beautiful as usual for the last 2 maybe 3 years. I decided to dig it up at the end of this year and replace it. Is was full of disease with very small flowers. while digging part of the crown broke off. I reached down and pushed on more of the crown that part broke off. No wonder the poor rose was looking poorly as the crown was in decay. I could also see that it was grafted since I plant those on a angle. In my wetter environment and needing to bury grafts that the grafted area eventually rots away and effects the crown. Could also be affected by below zero weather. I'm also considering applying more fertilizer. Sort of thinking that some continuous bloom roses could use more than what I give them. Felt so bad taking out the old rose. Happy now that it is done and a fresh new beauty will be coming....See MoreLots of new Kordes roses at Home Depot
Comments (27)I have been seeing the Kordes Clean n Easy roses at a couple of places near me. Did not see them at Lowe's here when I checked. But I did find them at a couple of garden centres & Canadian tire. I picked up cherry lady (aka fiji), Rosanna & Poseidon. They also had a number of others - about 10 varieties I've seen. The only one I haven't seen is brothers Grimm. That's one of the ones on my wish list. But it's nice to see them available in Ontario. I prefer to buy larger potted plants than bare roots if I can....See More- 8 years ago
