Retractable Screens for very large openings?
Comments (3)Hi BlackAce: Phantom Screens offers large retractable screens (Executive screens) suitable for porches and other covered outdoor openings. While the majority of Executive screens are motorized, it is possible to order a manual unit - the availability will depend on your porch height and mesh choice. You can start by calling 1-888-PHANTOM to talk to Phantom Screens distributor in your area (or go to http://www.phantomscreens.com/where-to-purchase/ and enter your zip code to find a distributor in your area). Manual units, while available, are not common as most homeowners prefer motorized units (you`ll need to be prepared to use the hand crank to manually raise and lower the screens). Comments (3)I saw these on "I Want That" on HGTV. They looked pretty nifty, easy to put on and remove , or open and close if you use the track. They also seem much less expensive than other options, especially if you want to be able to easily remove the screen for winter. Comments (22)It does seem very individual. Mosquitoes are a problem all summer in mid-South and especially at dusk. I previously had an open deck, so no overhead fan, and got driven in by bugs. Now have a screened porch which is elevated so not able to do a comparison re: height! But have some open deck down a few stairs and definitely more skeeters there. We eat on the porch a lot and another thing I wonder about is flies. Previously when having a meal out on an open deck we were constantly waving flies away & covering any food even if still serving. No such issues with screens. I do like that we have some unscreened deck because it is a different experience & when not buggy, I also like to sit out there....See MoreLavender Lass
