Best Boulevard Trees for our Tudor House

Hi,

We live in Minnesota and are in need of 2 boulevard trees. We live in a traditional tudor with tan stucco and dark brown trim/roof. I like pops of red in my landscape and we have a (true) red door. I want to find 2 trees that would have nice fall color and go well with our house.

Local restrictions we were told don't allow some varieties such as

- si silver maples,
poplars, willows, or evergreens of any sort.

I went to a local garden store and the following were suggested -

  • ·
    Autumn gold ginko (male/nonfruiting)
  • ·
    Royal Red Maple (maroon-bronze leaves)
  • ·
    Scarlet Jewel Maple (crimson-orange) red
  • ·
Autumn Blaze Maple (she said "red and silver" - not sure what this means?)
  • ·
    Crimson King Maple

I don't think I will like burgandy leaves in the fall or even year-round with our red door so I'm not sure those above that are like that I'd go for (like the crimson king). I'd prefer the tree to have more of a true red or maybe even a yellow leaves in the fall and green the rest of the year.

Is there a maple with a "true" red leaf in the fall or are they all burgundy, crimson or orange-red?

What do you think about these and do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks so much!
