Shower Head: Is Hansgrohe Rain Air XXL spray worth extra cost?

My master bathroom remodel is nearing completion. Based on the salesperson's recommendations, II chose to put in a Hansgrohe Raindance S120 wall-mounted shower head on a Hansgrohe Axor arm, a Hansgrohe Select E120 hand spray (with 3 spray modes) on a hook, and a ceiling-mounted rain shower head.

I have all the parts in hand, but have vacillated in choosing the ceiling-mounted rain head and extension pipe. I was planning to get the 13" round Hansgrohe C300 (with RainAir spray mode), but designer suggested the rectangular Hansgrohe Raindance E 360 (14"x7.5") (with RainAir spray mode) would fit the space better (shower is rectangular, about 3'x6').

I'm also looking at the Hansgrohe PuraVida 400 Air Shower head, which is 15.5" square and has a RainAir XXL spray mode. This model comes in white or chrome.

Any experience with Rain Air XXL spray mode versus Rain Air spray mode?

My ceilings are 8' high. What length ceiling pipe? 6"? 12"?

My set up is (1) 10" Hansgrohe rain head (no built-in diverter), (2) Hansgrohe handheld on a slide bar and (3) three body sprays. I have three separate valves. I use the rainhead and the body sprays at the same time because I love the rain head and I also like the feel of being surrounded by the water. I rarely use the handheld, except when I want to shower without getting my hair wet or to clean the shower. In theory, I could use everything at the same time, or use just the rain head and the handheld at the same time but it would never occur to me to do that. That would not be an important feature for me.

We have air-inject Hansgrohe rain showerheads in our two main bathrooms. Both have the same shower head, but I can never remember the exact model/style #! I know they have three settings; rain, whirl, and whirl+rain. We love them. I even use the whirl (pulsating spray) on my back, shoulders, and neck at times, and I never, ever used the massage setting on our old shower massage shower head) nor did/do I use them elsewhere when away from home. Spray is powerful enough, yet relaxing rain shower feel at the same time. *When we first started using them, the spray felt too light, but that was after three months of using our guest bathroom shower with a can type shower head that could remove paint! I exaggerate, but it sure as heck felt like it every time I used it! After a week of use, the Hansgrohe rain shower head spray felt perfect.

Yes! We love our new Hansgrohe Axor Citterio Showerpipe system. We've been using it for about four months, now. There is another version (you can easily see them side-by-side on efaucets site) with a rainshower head, but it is 500-1k more depending on finish. To me, this showerhead feels like a rainshower but I can narrow it down for rinising long hair. Both heads have the "air" technology, which gives plenty of oomph. (Though the flow still isn't nearly as strong as an old-fashioned non-restricted flow head.) It comes with thermostatic and diverter valve included in the guts. (Sorry don't know the terminology!) The handshower is also included, which, for me, is a MUST for rinsing the walls and glass down for weekly cleaning. Costs about $1500 on efaucets, which is where I found the best price.

One thing you might like to consider is what I did: no wall-mount shower head at all and only the hand-held shower head on a bar. This would be a way to save money, too. I had this at my old house in both the master bath and the kids' bath, and I did it again in my new house when we renovated. I really like having the hand-held for washing the walls, not just for the weekly scrub, but for rinsing after every use to get the soap off and prevent scum from forming. I also like it for washing intimate areas and the kids' hair, and it's nice to have the shower head height adjustable on a bar if any children will ever use your shower. I have never missed having a regular wall-mount shower head. I have used Grohe and Hansgrohe shower heads. One warning about the rain shower head is that some people have complained that they have insufficient force to rinse out thick hair. I have never used one, but you might look on the forum.
