Central Ohio Plant Swap/Potluck- Sat. May 21, 2005
Comments (100)Hi Gina...it's NOT in bad taste to see if folks will be bringing certain plants they are looking for. It certainly isn't a secret. I think folks are anxious for people to get things they are looking for at a swap. In fact, some folks set up trades via email beforehand that are separate from the group swap - and put those plants in their cars before the actual big swap begins. (I think Hostalavista and Michigan Betty do that with certain hostas since they are both collectors) I will be bringing some pots of hardy crainsbill geraniums to the swap. Time (spring) will tell me which ones...later on. In fact, I am hoping someone has Achillea Taygeta. I would LOVE a division of that plant. Sounds like there will be quite a few folks bringing their left over winter sown plants for swapping!! Fun! Think sunshine!.......Beverly...See MoreUPDATE: Cassie's August Check-In for 2005 Swap
Comments (69)Rainbow-- Thanks for the compliment. I'm really proud of how these beds turned out, especially in light of the fact that they were A LOT of work. The ground was so hard and compacted when I started that I had to use a grub hoe to break it up...my tiller wasn't doing much more than skipping around on top of the ground--and that was AFTER I'd been watering the beds daily for about 2 weeks prior to starting on them. The towers at the end are rose trellises. I have "Buff Beauty" climbing roses planted at the bottom of them, although you can't see them real well in the pics...the plan is for the roses to grow up and cover the towers. Well, that's the plan, anyway *grin*... Best, Cheryl...See MoreBaby Photos 1/2005
Comments (98)Mantis, I did read that Mac are going with a new common brain or something. Now abut those Russian Reds. I have some nice ones up in the seed tray. Maybe 5/5. I think seeds came from Rosco. Anyway, it sounds like a nice little determinate, right? About a 4-5 footer. Have you gorwn it and if so does it need a stake. Something in the grey matter says tree tybe and sturdy. If that is so I'll plant 5/5 in pots.:)...See MoreAre you a GW Old Timer?
Comments (100)Cindy, I never got those Lava Cakes right either, somehow I always overcooked them and so never got "lava flow", but my kids loved them, said they were like the best brownies they ever had. They'd eat them hot with ice cream and hot fudge, called it a "hot fudge brownie sundae". I still love Chase's red pepper soup, I first had it made by Chase herself when Elery and I went to Toronto and met Sharon and Clive and Woodie and Ken. Now I make it myself, but I never thought to just buy jarred peppers. Between that trip, The Michigan Run, Canning Camp, California Dreaming and just various visits, I've met something like 27 members, including several of those in Lars' pictures. I've enjoyed every single one of them. I'm sorry I never got pictures of Janet Englehardt before she passed away from cancer, although I did stay in touch with her husband, Larry, for some time. Several of us lived/still live in Michigan, including Lakemayor/Karen, wizardnm/Nancy, Sheshebop/Sherry, Bunnyman/Michael, Solsthumper/Sol, and a couple right next door in Chicago, including Peppi and Ilana.
