Comments (28)Susan, I had a good laugh over your reply, imagining tiny floats and teeny tiny umbrella drinks. Now I feel bad about wanting to get rid of them, hehe. Jolana, thanks for the link, that orange oil looks like it might work!! Nice and non-toxic too, so no problem for the herbs. Txgardenlady, I bet that's why they took up residence, that halfbarrel is firmly on the ground! I wonder if dumping everything out and putting it on supports before re-planting would solve the problem....See MoreJuicing - Getting Started?
Comments (15)The older machine, which removes the pulp, is an actual "juicer" and would be the better choice for your recipe. This recipe won't work in the Ninja. The Ninja recipes require an additional liquid such as V-8, tomato juice, iced tea, frozen lemonade or orange concentrate, apple juice, mango nectar, apricot nectar, pineapple juice, even carbonated water or soft fruit like tomatoes in order to make a juice blend. Many of the hard fruits or veggies also need to be cooked to work in the Ninja. This is definitely a juicer recipe. Here are a few Ninja recipes: Veggie Iron Power Punch (serves 1) Use the 40-oz. bowl and blade assembly. 2 c. cold iced tea, sweetened 8 leaves spinach, washed 1 rib celery 1/2 green apple, cut into pieces Pour the tea into the bowl and add the spinach, celery and green apple. Blend on (2) until smooth. Strain the drink through a fine sieve and serve in a tall glass over ice. Tip: Start by adding 8 leaves to this recipe and as you adapt to the flavor, increase the fresh spinach leaves up to 1/2 cup packed. -------------------------------------- Apple & Pineapple Juice Blend (makes about 6 cups of juice blend) Use the 72-oz. pitcher and blade assembly. Cooking the apples first allows the fruit flavor to mellow and sweeten naturally. 4 cooking apples, peeled and cored 1/2 c. fresh pineapple, cut in chunks 1/2 t. ground cinnamon 4 c. apple juice Place the apples and the pineapple in a microwave safe bowl and add 2 T. of water. Cover with plastic wrap and cook on High for 6 minutes, or until very tender. Spoon the mixture into the pitcher and add the cinnamon. Blend the mixture on (2) until smooth. Depending on your preference, pour the mixture through a fine sieve and add to the apple juice, or combine the apple/pineapple mixture with the juice and serve as is. Refrigerate any leftover juice. ---------------------------------------------- Fresh Pear & Mango Nectar (serves 4-6) Use the 72-oz. pitcher and blade assembly. 6 ripe pears, cored and cut into large pieces 4 c. mango nectar Place the pears in a large microwave-safe bowl and add 2 T. of water. Cook on High for 3-4 minutes, or until very tender. Remove and cool slightly. Place half of the pears and nectar into the pitcher and blend on (2) until uniformly smooth. Strain the juice through a fine sieve and pour into a large container or pitcher. Repeat with the remaining nectar and pears. Serve over ice or chill until ready to serve. -Grainlady...See MoreWe got our NutriBullet!
Comments (20)I decided we were going to go on the smoothie kick too. We have to make some changes. we went to GNC and got their protein powder, they have a diet plan for it. Several were on sale and the big containers were buy one get one half off. He also told me about the green coffee bean extract pills that he put his mom on along with the same powder diet plan and she was losing weight so I got some of them. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond and I looked at the Nutribullet, black magic bullet, the Ninja professional 700wat and decided on the Ninja since it had the most powerful motor. I had a 20% off coupon. We will shop tomorrow after we clean out the fridge, freezers, and pantry. I hope we like it....See MoreTrying out my new masticating juicer
Comments (14)Snidely, Chi83 just said in her first paragraph what I was about to say in my response to you. But your post describes how I feel about fruit. I almost never drink fruit juice because I'd much rather eat the whole thing. And there's no danger of me not getting enough fruit--but there could be a danger of me eating too much of it. :-) Rgreen, I agree with you about ease of cleaning. A few years ago I bought a Jack LaLanne juicer as a gift, but ended up not giving it after I learned how difficult it is to clean. Your Breville is a step or two up from the one I had. I found mine a pain to clean after the Acme, which uses disposable filters--so you just peel off the solids, leaving a (large) screen that needs only to be rinsed. Before I bought the Omega, I read a lot of reviews and watched several YouTube videos. (Has anyone else noticed how many "instructional" YouTube videos are made by people who don't know what they're doing? LOL) In the consumer reviews and the useful videos, many people stressed that the unit is exceptionally easy to clean. "Two minutes" is what I heard more than once. After my one experience this morning, I would say they're right. I'm sure it took me more than two minutes, but this was my first time. The screen is small, and cleaned up easily with the brush they provide. The auger was a snap. The chute, end cap, and tray (on top, not visible in my photo) were equally easy. All can go in the dishwasher, I think (top rack), but I wanted to clean up and move on. Reassembly is very easy. No clogs, and no problem with the romaine and leaf lettuce. The 8004 (white) also comes in a chrome version (8006)....See More- 11 years ago
