Crown moulding in small bathrooms? Yes or no?
Comments (12)Wow, I would be pleasantly surprised to see that, not disappointed. I think that shows an excellent builder who has the wherewithal to give that type of attention to a small room. I have crown in two of my bathrooms (master bath not yet) and the smallest being 5x8 and we deliberately added it years after it was built. I think after it's all done you will see how moulding adds to the finished look of any room....See MoreCL mirror for bathroom? Yes or no?
Comments (23)I remember a bath with those swag lights that had both of them swagged to one side, one higher than the other. Any chance that would work for you? You could then have them on the outside of the space further to the left a bit and it would give you more room. I think it would work with a larger square mirror, if that appeals to you. If the light on the left stayed close to where it is, but was up higher and the other light was hanging outside it, just a bit lower, maybe as low as they are now? And with not quite so much slack in the chain. Not one directly above the other, but one over more to the left a bit....See MoreDimmer Switch / Bathroom fan addition
Comments (11)OK, I think I see what's going on here. It appears to me that you have a switch loop there, and someone has used the grounding (not groundED) conductor as a neutral return for the receptacle. This is hazardous. It can, with the right kind of loose connection elsewhere in the system, energize other electrical boxes AND the metal cabinets of grounded appliances plugged into other receptacles. Imagine what a surprise it is to touch your refrigerator while leaning against the sink, and get knocked across the room! Get rid of the receptacles entirely. They are a hazard. Connect the green wire to the ground terminal (if any) on the switch, and the black and white wires to the switch. You will need to have a proper cable pulled for receptacles in the bathroom. No way around it, sorry....See MoreBathroom lighting (how many, dimmer, etc.)
Comments (2)1. Your plan. 2. My two cents, yes. 3. Do you feel you need any bathroom lights on a dimmer switch? I rarely take baths, and when I do I like to read in the tub, so a dimmer switch isn't necessary. But I know some people like to relax entirely, and want it dark with candles. So maybe a dimmer switch would help for that. Also, given the proximity of the bedroom, would a dimmer switch on the one general overhead light help it to serve as a sort of nightlight? Aside from those two scenarios (and I could be missing others!), I can't see why a dimmer switch would be necessary. And if you're reasonably handy, it's something you could easily (and more cheaply) add later, esp if you're not convinced of its utility right now....See More- 9 years ago
