I'm wondering if there are webmasters of this site that can prevent it via code or blocking the offender(s).

I myself don't see countless spam, just the occasional spam post before it gets mowed down.

if you use add-block plus you won't get them.

Interestingly, I just scanned the topics and I don't see anymore!

I'm not complaining about ads. I notices topics written in some Asian symbols and there were a lot since yesterday.

Again, they're gone now, so all is good!

I saw those on another forum, threads that were posted over and over. Adblock won't block them because they are threads, not ads. I hope Houzz finds some way to block them. Very annoying !

I have never seen anything similar to what you are reporting. I see a very occasional old post that was brought to the top because of a spammed post on it. It sounds like something specific to your computer. I would clear the cache on the browser you are using and it would not hurt to run an updated malwarebytes free scan on the computer. Those can be indicators of malware.

As Raven mentioned I haven't seen Spam for ages on the GW forums.

Certainly not the abundance you've alluded to. When Spam is noticed, flag the message and it will be checked out by the moderators.

They've been a plague on Gardening Forums. Tamara was working on a filter to prevent these, or at least take them down fast. But yes, report them. Even if you report just one, the staff is alerted.

Yes, we've been a spam magnet the last few days! What mimi is talking about are the posts, that spambots will drop in mass quantities onto the forums. Lately, they are in a foreign language or they are advertising astrology or love spells. We try and block them via IP addresses and other filters, but sometimes they still manage to slip through our Spidey webs. If you see them, just click on the flag in the top corner of the post and I'll delete them asap.

Sushipup has been a major spam assassin this week and has probably worn out that little flag. Thanks, Sushi!
