Not what do you wear, instead: How do you wear jewelry?
Comments (17)As I matter of fact I do wear jewelry differently at my 2 homes! I can't stand cold metal touching me so I don't wear necklaces in the winter (from Nov to about March) at my regular home. And I wear one particular pair of earring almost all winter because they dangle but not long enough to touch my skin. Some of the longer ones end up touching my neck from my scarves & bulky coat so I avoid those. It's crazy but cold metal just sends a chill right through me and makes me feel colder. Since it's warmer in HHI, I do wear necklaces & earrings and even bracelets. I usually bring a few down with me so that I can have some variety. One necklace at a time, if it's bold than the earrings are smaller. One bracelet at a time and it depends on my sleeve length. In both places, I occasionally wear rings when I remember them. Your comments about gold & blue reminds me that I have an 18k gold ring with a lapis lazuli stone. I should dig that out and start wearing it again....See MoreDo you wear a special necklace every day?
Comments (20)Not any one that I wear all the time. I guess I just like jewelry too much to stick with just one. But, I do have a very special ring, a silver Navajo one with a large green turquoise. DH bought it for me the day our DS was born as a remembrance of a very special day. I wore it the day his adoption was finalized. The day he started kindergarten, middle school, high school and college. I wore it to his kindergarten, high school and college graduations. I wore it the day he was inducted into the Army and to his graduation from Basic. I wore it both days that he left for Afghanistan and when picking him up at the airport when he came home on leave. I'll wear it when he comes back this time, too. Every year since we found each other, his birth mom (now a dear friend of ours) and I meet for lunch to celebrate our son's birthday in August. I've worn it to each of those special lunches. I don't wear it other days because it's so precious to me that I'm afraid I'll lose it. I plan on wearing it to his wedding some day, too. Someday I'll pass it on to him and his wife, but not for the foreseeable future. I still have a lot more "Special Son Days" that I hope to wear it to. Lynn...See MoreLife Alert, Medical Alert or...
Comments (25)We got one of those for my MIL about 5 or 6 years ago. She started talking about them after my SIL had a stroke and laid on the floor for 8 hours until her DH came home from work. As a result of that stroke she has been in a nursing home and cannot move the right side of her body. Now if she had one of these maybe things would be different, but, she was only in her sixties and in good health didn't think she needed one. So, we got it for my MIL as a birthday gift (it sure makes it easy every year as to what we are going to get her besides sending her flowers) and she just loves it. She and we have piece of mind. We live a little more than hour away so it will take time for us to react in an emergency. It not only works in the house, but, we went outside in the yard and it worked as far as across the street into her neighbors drive way. So this way if she is outside near the house all she has to do is push the button if she needs help. The company is US and their operators are all US based. We did everything online with them including paying them every year. I would highly recommend them. The name of the company is Alert One http://www.alert-1.com/ Here is a link that might be useful: Alert One...See MoreAny ideas for necklace/bracelet storage?
Comments (28)@RayeSmith: I don't think I can attach my mirror directly to a hinge, given how it is constructed. (1) the frame is completely round, front and back (2) the back of the frame is not very wide (3) I don't think the construction of the frame is strong enough to stand up to the stresses of movement. @pennydesign, I don't think I'd try to convert the floor mirror to a jewelry mirror--I just think it would be too complicated. But I could make the box/tray that attaches to the wall, and attach a slab door of plywood (size everything so that door fits inside the frame of my mirror), and then remove my mirror from the stand and glue it to the slab door. Maybe the frame would stand up to that simpler stress. I've wanted to hang that mirror on the wall all along anyway; I love how it looks (the design of the frame), but having it on a stand is a PITA....See Morerob333 (zone 7b)
