FSH 95.5/LH 53.4/ Estradiol <5.0pg/ml and 42 years old. Last period was in November 2014. Doctor wants to put me on Duavee to prevent bone loss. I read the side effects and it alarms me!

Your levels certainly confirm menopause. At age 42, this would be considered early onset.

Many woman are fearful of taking hormones based on the WHI study. However, that study only used two hormone drugs, Premarin and Prempro Neither of those are bioidentical (meaning the chemical structure of the estrogen or progestin matches what OUR bodies produced). I'm not certain that we can truly draw any certain conclusions from that study, except maybe to stay away from Prempro.

Every woman needs to make her own decision about the use of hormones after menopause. But those decisions must be based on your set of circumstances, not fear. There are 400 known uses of estrogen (specifically 17 Beta Estradiol) in a woman's body. It effects every tissue and every organ we have. This is why woman can such a vast array of symptoms, some of which are vague. But everything from our sleep, bone density, to muscle and joint pain can be linked to the loss of this important hormone.

To me, this really comes down to quality of life and the potential to reverse or manage potential problems related to menopause. This thing never "goes away". It is the permanent loss of a minor hormone system that effects all our major hormone systems. This is why woman may also experience issues with thyroid or insulin after menopause.

There are plenty of options to restore a more normal hormone balance using bioidentical hormones, which might make you feel better and keep your body running well longer. It could be as simply as a estradiol patch, which is slowly absorbed through the skin.

I guess it comes down to, if in the future you are told you have osteoporosis which could have been handled if you had taken estrogen, will you be mad at yourself for ignoring it now? Sometimes, it isn't about whether we are currently have symptoms of hot flashes and night sweats, it's about our long term health and specific set of risks.

Do your research realizing that there are many, many options for hormone replacement. And there might be one that has a minimal side effects profile that feels good to your body. At age 42, this might be your best bet.

Oh geez karla..........I'm so sorry!! I'm just glad you're okay. Doing the splits after age 20 is dangerous! I'm afraid I would have broke in half! They probably would have had to call the fire department to get me up and out! haha Could the rock have punctured the satellite dish? If not, where's the water going? Is it going underneath the tarp? I personally would try to buy a good liner, since you don't want to have to do this again any time soon, but someone in another thread said they used their shower curtain. I suppose anything that can hold water will work, but you want it to last. Some nurseries have little pond sections, but not many. I've seen liners at big box stores, but they might be made of PVC stuff, rather than the EDPM stuff. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in here. I just have stocktanks, and don't have to deal with liners. I'm sorry your family is being hard on you. You AREN'T nuts. You're doing something that gives you (and hopefully others) alot of pleasure for just a little money. I think its a wonderful thing! Good luck to you karla, and I'm so sorry for your slip. I share your preference for 19th century construction, but I can see the appeal of this place to you. If it is mid century done well, then I could go for it. Reminds me of our house search; everything we looked at was 100+ years old, except for one contemporary bordering conservation land. It would have been a challenge for me, I would have abandoned all my traditional fabrics and gone with really beautiful, modern prints. I could see a leaf motif happening there. And asian furniture. But it would have been an interesting challenge to decorate it in a way that fit the style of the house, and was within the bounds of my own taste/preferences. When I look at this floor plan, I love the way the dining room is open to the living room via the railing, and the way the levels are united. What a party house! I can see lots of mingling on those stairs. The windowless kitchen might be a dealbreaker for me. Also, is there attic storage? and where would you put your bicycle? In our first apartment, the only reasonable place to keep it (according to dh) was in front of the living room fireplace. Oh, how I hated that! I'm really glad we have a garage now; I can't imagine five bikes parked in our living room.

Thanks for the reply jparkfire. It fills the bill except the spec sheets on the Ecobond say its not suitable for constant immersion. Any other ideas out there? I have used silicone in the past and it worked for several years but they were PVC ma's and conduit. I am wondering about the 3M compound used on the internal ground on lights although it is always applied in dry conditions and may not maintain flexibility. I know pool putty doesn't work, have tried it in the past.
