I need help ID'ing an Iris.
Comments (13)Randi, I left a message on your facebook page. You iris is some sort of a tall bearded historic iris, but I cannot ID it. You may want to check out the HIPS website to see if any of their photos match yours, but I would post the photo on the Historic Iris Preservation site on Facebook to see if someone can ID it there. Comments (2)There must be many dozens if not hundreds of rust colored iris with orange beards, so the only way you could get a possible id is to get some pictures. If you don't have a camera, you should try to borrow one, or at least have a friend take a couple of pictures before bloom season is over for you. Digital pictures are easy to load to the computer and upload to this site. If you have questions along the way ask us for help if you don't know how to do it. Other things to note that are helpful with ID: fragrance, PBF (a flush of purple at the base of the fan), height, and bloom time (are they early in comparison with other iris in your neighborhood or late)? are all helpful indicators but are useful only along with the pictures. If pictures are absolutely out of the question, I would suggest you look at some of the commercial iris growers sites that post alot of pictures, and see if you recognize yours. I would suggest blueJ at www.bluejiris.com or snowpeak iris at www.snowpeakiris.com as two growers with alot of pictures for starters. But be forewarned: there are TONS of gorgeous iris out there on those sites and you might just fall in love with a few and find yourself putting an order in! Good luck and I hope this is useful to you. Laetitia...See MoreHelp In I.D.'ing A Houseplant
Comments (2)Hi Bodiggly! Thanks for guessing! You're right! This is exactly what my plant is! The Home Depot out here - sometimes customers can't help but get annoyed with their stock because there are either no prices or names for their products. But, on the other hand, when everyone has a chance to get answers to their questions about plants on forums like this one, it's wonderful! Today was a situation where I couldn't wait to get home to see what Gardenweb members had to say about my plant. Thank you so much... Sincerely, mbluetyphoon...See MoreNeed help I.D.ing a few neglected house plants
