Can I save my tillandsia umbellata

Hi, I usually visit the orchid forums but today... Today is different. Today I ripped my tillandsia in half. I got it not long ago and it was doing alright in a pot of wood chips. Already stupid enough, I decied to try to grow it without media. So I take it of its pot, it has some roots, everything's fine. Then I start removing old leaves. One is quite tough and I give it a tug and snap, I ripped my plant apart, a around one inch stem with some roots, and the rest of the plant. I was horrified as well as furious with myself. Now I'm buried in the dumps. Anyways I used some plastic to sort of tie the prices together and used scotch tape to keep it in place. Then I buried back in the wood chips. Do I have a chance of it surviving? Should I place it in a plastic bag with moss or something. I just want my plant to live if there is even the slightest chance it could. Please help!
