Greenhouse - garden shed
Comments (17)Idaho, The shed near you live reminds me of a book in my personal library on NE connected farm buildings - "Big House, Little House, Back House, Barn". I actually have a current design client who desires a very large custom house that gives a visitor the sense that it has been expanded through necessity, but with everything connected. Your vision sounds very charming. I can build an outbuilding by right (w/o going through PZ) up to 25% of my lots' total area - minus the main house + garage - which equates to about a 5,000 sf shed/greenhouse. But, it would have to be 20 ft from the rear property line, instead of 3 ft with my current footprint. I do not need a structure that big, since we already have a 2.5 car garage and 10 x 22 shed, and my gardens would be compromised with that setback. Although, as you most likely know, we never have enough space for our toys :). I like your idea of a high window between the shed and greenhouse - or a half-glass door connecting the two spaces - would be great for light, and/or a transom over the door. I also like the relationship of a potting/garden tool shed - perhaps open to the greenhouse with French doors via a set of steps. Thanks for the ideas....See MoreA green shed for a green garden
Comments (48)I was out taking some pictures this afternoon and got a really bizarre effect when I took a picture of the shed from the opposite direction from the picture I took from the porch yesterday. It was so strange, and not at all what my eyes saw, that I re-scanned the paint stir sticks to include the new door color one, just to be sure that it really was green! Compare the color of the door in this picture of the shed to yesterday's picture: All the stir sticks, including the original door color on the far left and the new door color the next one over. Your eyes (or ours at least!) see the color as it is in yesterday's pictures. I don't know what the camera is seeing!...See MoreGarden shed reborn
Comments (52)moccasin, I laughed when I came in to post to this thread again. I was saying to myself, these people are really going to get sick of me from now on, because I think I'm going to have fun with this shed and will be sharing it all. Perhaps I need to start a new thread or cease altogether for awhile so as not to hog the forum? Thank you for the great idea about the shoe and other nice comments and suggestions. I take them to heart. Just awhile ago, I was sitting down there thinking about how fun it would be to hang a funky, little crystal chandelier from the rafter over the table. Too bad, when I purged the garage last Fall I put the perfect one out near the trash, altho I had removed all the hanging crystals from it before I did. Someone took the naked chandelier part anyway - in a flash. Now I'm sorry. BUT - I suddenly happened to think about the candle chandelier that hangs outside in the privet arch during the summers. Bought it long time ago on clearance at KMart at 75% off, I wanted it all season but couldn't justify the $25. It's a Martha Stewert I think. Probably have lit it only once in all this time. So I took off in the rain and retrieved it, emptied all the water out of the holders, wiped them out, wiped down the by now dirty candles and look - how nice! I used a big hook I found in the toolbox, and the table needs to be centered under it but I didn't want to disturb Pretty who was snoozing in the chair. Plus, it doesn't need electric. I can't wait to try it, yeah, I'll have a bucket of water nearby just in case....See MoreMy before & after - Garden shed & area
