Hi, I like many of you searching the web for explanations of the problems with pain and stiffness in my feet formost and I eventually found this forum. Wow!

All that has been said is me. The cramps I put down to bad circulation and being told I have phlebitis since I had to visit the Dr with red painful inflamed varicose vein.

I live in Spain and although it was hot I was having waves of drenching sweat, through the night was worst as I could have a dip in the pool or cold shower through the day. I saw the Dr who sent me for tests for menopause. It was positive and the results also showed that I had a high cholesterol she explained with me being over weight I could potentially get diabetes. I've always had a weight problem

I have sore eyes but just thought I was tired. My stomachs swells after eatin no matter how small the meal and I have noticed I can't eat potatoes or bread without it getting stuck in my throat could this also be a symptom?

I'm not sure where to start to offer you any help. But suffice it to say that menopause completely changes your entire system. All hormones work together and support one another. While the sex steroids of our younger days are a minor hormone system, they certainly do work with insulin, cortisol, adrenaline, and thyroid.

For all of us in menopause, the imbalance and lack of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone cause problems and symptoms that are far reaching into every part of your body. As one example, it is well known that there are estrogen receptors in 400 different locations in the body. So is it any wonder that woman have trouble with sleep, dry eyes, dry mouth, hot flashes, vaginal atrophy and the sensation of bugs crawling under their skin. There isn't a piece of our bodies that doesn't feel the lack of this hormone. And yes, even a bad cholesterol profile is also a lack of estrogen. Proven repeatedly to completely reverse with estrogen replacement therapy.

Apparently, you are having hot flashes. And yes, many of the changes you describe can be related to menopause. So the question becomes, are you interesting in replacing the missing hormones, or simply looking for the options available to combat some of your symptoms? Only you can answer that question.

I would just like to lead a normal life. Not feel depressed over the smallest of things, not walk like I was 100yrs old instead of 50 and start to enjoy life again. I've always been a practical one doing as much DIY as I can, spending time in the garden lifting and digging etc without feeling that I need to sleep for the rest of the afternoon when I stop. I just feel as though,

'I want my Mo Jo back'!

Another thing you mentioned about your skin feeling like there are creatures crawling I have that to sometimes wonder if I've been bitten with a mosquito that has laid eggs ore something, you see these documentaries on the tv! Horrible thought.

I'm so glad that I can converse on this forum without feeling silly with my (complaints/symptoms)

I am sorry for the sadness and physically difficulties you have faced and continue to face and glad that you are able to garden with joy and anticipation again. I have ws thousands of containers over the years but only 4 containers this year, just a bump in my gardening plans and am hoping to get more done later and I am not actively trading seeds at this time so haven't been reading the Seed Exhange page or paying much attention to the offers in other postings. A few suggestions to get responses to your seed exchange offers: 1. Post on the Seed Exchange Forum and the Round Robin Forum. 2. Post on exchange pages of this and other forums that you frequent. 3. Join group exchanges. There was a group Wintersowing Swap earlier this year. Sometimes there will be a post telling of a new swap and linking to it. 4. If someone has expressed interest in trading in a Discussion posting follow up with an e-mail to that person. It is easy to forget the offer if one doesn't go back to read the post again. Thank you everyone for following up on my Iris' pics. I'm definitely new at this and to have some bloom first Spring after planting them and to be so BIG, well that just fascinates and tickles me! I wanted to post a follow up to my pictures. Those other pictures were taken yesterday and when I went outside at 6:00am today (EST), I had the most beautiful surprise waiting to greet me on my front stoop (porch), see for yourself....

Hi TP First off welcome to the forum! There are so many good people here, I know you will enjoy it and learn many things. Let me suggest the search feature of this forum. You can type in what you want to learn and all posts with answers will come up for you to read. I learned so much this way, but do not ever feel like you cant ask a question here, people may be busy but someone will always answer. Ok I am not an expert, just the opposite, I am a newbie also, but I have learned so much here I am assuming when you say cuttings, they are without roots? Let me explain a little of what others have taught me here. With a new cutting ( no visible roots ) you need to remove all leaves and inflos (flower stems with flowers) Your cutting is without roots and the leaves and inflos will take so much energy from the cutting rooting it will be slow if at all. Also if the cutting was sent with the leaves and inflo intact I am assuming it is a new cutting. The bottom needs to callous over before you plant it. I leave mine out for at least 10 days to dry and callous over, that is where your roots will come from. Now after it has calloused over, I soak in a solution of superthrive which you can find at home depot and water while I am getting my pot and soil ready. I know some people soak for a few hours as well. To pot your cutting I suggest using a clear container. I use empty water bottles, that way you can see roots without moving it around to look. roots are delicate when they first start so do not mess with it. Bottom heat is very good for the rooting process. I use a seed heating mat. You can find those on ebay or some hydroponic stores carry them. I have the same greenhouse as you. I dont know about your humidity but I do think 90 degrees will most likely sunburn your cuttings. I learned this the hardway and lost a lani that way. To root my cuttings I pot them in waterbottles (holes in the bottom) water them in once till water runs out the wholes and leave it alone. Also I use a rooting hormone to help speed it up. Once you have soaked it, put some rooting hormone on a paper towel and roll the cutting around on the paper towel and make sure you get the bottom of the cutting covered as well. pot it maybe 3 inches or so in the soil or whatever potting medium your useing. put it on a heat mat and leave it be. No water, the cutting has water stored inside and doesnt need it to root. If you keep watering it, you are more apt to rot it. When you see about 6 or so leaves about 5 to 6 inches long you know it has started the rooting process. I spray the tips of mine when I have a couple of leaves, just do not let water run down the stem. Good luck and I hope I have helped a little. We learn from each other and I am hoping someone else with more experience will come and answer more. Just have patience, thats the key to rooting. Jackie

Could it be the german shepherd chewing on them? Is is possible to post pictures? I am assuming it's a chain link fence, in which case the chain link part will be galvanised steel; you said aluminium tie wire, in which case perhaps it's corrosion? There will be a reaction between aluminium and steel, and the former usually becomes the 'sacrificial' part.

You aren't being silly. And your symptoms are very real. For a starter, get yourself a copy of the book by Elizabeth Vilet, Screaming to be Heard Hormonal Connections that Woman Suspect and Doctors Still Ignore.

Excellent, well documented information. All these things you describe have very real chemical answers. Your body is feeling the lack of those chemicals, which will also effect all the other hormone systems in your body. This is why woman become hypothyroid or diabetic or have adrenal gland problems after menopause. This is why our skin sags, we can't sleep, get irritable, and have no energy.
