Some July 7th and 8th pictures....Long Post, few Pics.
Comments (9)Thanks:) 'Pink Lipstick' huh? That sounds like that might be it!! If this is the one with dark pink flowers it must be. I'll google it after a bit. Maybe your strawberries would be happier growing with a ground cover like mine are doing? They (and my Iris)seem to love it so I'm letting them! It's also the only place I haven't been ripping out that awful Sedum. Sure it's a nice Sedum with pretty flowers and all, but it just shouldn't be planted in a mixed border/garden :O Thanks Karen, I love my Lavender plants and the ease of caring for them. All they need from me is a pruning a couple times a year; every other year or so a pretty hard one in spring to keep from getting woody centers. Next spring will have to whack the 'Vera' back because they are WAY large again and it was only the year before last they got it really good. They (the 4 plants) are 2 plants planted side by side (abt. 2' on center) and over the years they have basically grown into 2 shrubs. In flower (I just went and measured :)) they are 5.5' wide!...See MoreFinally posting a few more pics
Comments (13)Pelicanhead, RUSTY is usually fairly disease resistant, but this season, none of the roses seemed to escape the BS from all that rain and cold temps. Thanks Krista. And that photo doesn't even do PROSPERO justice. It's such a yummy deep velvety purple-burgundy color. Jim, RUSTY is a really good one. You need to have it!! Christina, I think I'm going to love that KOKO LOCO!! It's so interesting, and just enough different from many of my other oddball-colored roses in that beigey-lavenderish range. And TOM BROWN is an absolutely impossible rose to get. I just barely snagged it from Cliff. Another one I'm going to be in love with! Thanks Harold. Isn't that CROWD PLEASER a lovely one? I got that plant a couple yrs ago when my other one nearly died. But it recovered pretty well, so now I have two! And Queenbee, FRANCE LIBRE is one I got from Ashdown Roses several yrs ago, before they closed up. So far it's been a pretty nice rose. Doesn't repeat all that great, but it's pretty when it does. The color is usually a deeper orange than this photo. The weird weather has a lot of my roses looking a bit off....See Moreroses....and more..please post your flower pics..
Comments (114)I have been enjoying everyones gorgeous gardens and fabulous flower pictures. We finally have warm weather here in Wisconsin. Tulips, daffodills and other early spring flowers have come and gone. Roses, peonies and others are not blooming yet.My flowering trees were a week to 10 days later than normal but as you can see by this one. It was worth the wait....See MoreA few pics of roses in the garden
Comments (21)@Melissa Northern Italy zone 8 I will absolutely follow your advice and elevate my WL! 100% following your lead here. I LOVE the effect of your rose cage and am now considering doing the same and saving the arch for someone else, like Reine des Violettes. I need to keep WL close enough to enjoy his deliciously scented blooms but far away from pathways, passing human skin and rough collie fur. Siting William is challenging, but a cage would open up a couple of nice possibilities AND create the flouncing effect of yours. I spotted that great WL pic on HMF, too! Madame P has an INCREDIBLE garden. Her Cardinal de Richelieu is also awe inspiring! Have you seen her garden in person? If I lived in your area, I’d be tempted to find a way to casually run into her at a cafe. :-) Carol...See Morebethnorcal9
