Vote: Soapstone or Danby Imperial Marble Countertops

Not to beat a dead horse, since I know this has come up before, but I'm having a hard time deciding between 2 very different looks. We're having custom shaker-style white cabinets installed in our 1927 *tiny* galley kitchen. The door below is close but not exactly identical to the style we've chosen. Floor will be narrow plank red oak stained to match the original in the rest of the house.

The question: go with Danby Imperial marble or Mirasol black moon soapstone (hard version - 5 on Moh's scale)? We know all about etching, staining, scratching, etc.

Will the soapstone make the galley kitchen (with one window) too dark? We're adding plenty of layers of lighting but will have no increase in natural light. Or go light with marble? I like the fact the Danby has some warm gold/browns in it that tie in with the wood floor but also love the contrast the soapstone provides. Help!

Do you think one would look better considering the age of our home? Which would you pick? Thanks for the help!
