Danby Marble distributors near Philadelphia?

I just got back from Maine to visit the cabinet showroom. While I was there I saw a vanity topped with Danby Imperial marble. It was beautiful! I am trying to decide between two stains, one light, one medium and need to choose the countertop before I do. My kitchen is too small and dark to use soapstone with the medium stain and I think that marble would look great. Unfortunately, Imperial is no longer being quarried but others are. The closest distributor I can find is in north Jersey (2 hrs away). They are going to send me pictures of their slabs so I can decide if it's worth a drive there, but would love to find a dealer that's closer. Anyone know of any in the Philadelphia area that carry Danby?

Sorry I can't help with the name of someone near you, but I was wondering if you could give me the name of the place in North Jersey. That's where I live and would love to see the difference between Danby marble and Carrera marble. Thanks so much!

You can google Danby Marble: you are able to call their factory: On of my vendor in dallas toured the factory. We installed in one kitchen. The customer was well aware of all the positive vs. negative issues with marble installed in a kitchen. (It can stain and chip) Although very beautiful. Our customer purchased the one with gold running through. Her kitchen is very cottage looking with a farm sink, and shinny white tiles that are installed running bond pattern. Looked real clean! Sealed very well. Her kitchen will be featured in a magazine in a few months.

(Francy, I'm splitting my sides here!) Luckyj, installing on your own is possible. vwhippiechick did hers. She ordered from Maine Soapstone and they shipped to her in...Kentucky, I think? Maine is the same company I used for my soapstone, and they did a great job on my fabrication and install. Do a search under her name and find the thread, it's very, VERY informative! Teixeira and Maine Soapstone both do a great job working with DIY folks, from what I have heard. If you want Maine's contact info, send me an email and I will get it to you. I think you would be very happy with the self-install option, especially if it makes the cost so much more affordable! Bucks County does do an incredible job, but if the cost is prohibitive, then other options are out there.

Hi again, Today I happened upon a slab of brushed absolute black at the granite place. It was gray, instead of the usual black. I have a honed sample that is also black. But I guess with "brushed" it comes out gray. I like it a lot. It looks like concrete (which I priced and was too much in my area). But then my excitement faded when the granite guy told me that it would have to be sealed to prevent oil from staining it. And it would look black when sealed! Do any of you have brushed AB? Is there someway to keep the gray look and protect it from oil stains? I love to fry, and it will be around the cooktop . . . Limommy - the Neolith place did not have a calacatta sample, or have it there to look at. I too wonder if it would feel like stone or not.

My Sea Pearl had bluish tones that turned greenish once in my home. Will they give you a sample? My stoneyard did not so I took a chance. Did you see the chart Karin_MT made up? Maybe you could go by her description of the various levels of quartzite. Will they let you do a water absorption test? The crystalline quartzite is easy to spot. Look at the names on the right, find one in your stoneyard and look for the grains, cross bedding, crystalline structure to see which one comes closest to looking like your stone. You might try either lemon juice or vinegar on a small paper towel in a zipper bag or maybe you could use an extra small empty hand sanitizer bottle. Don't ask...don't tell??? Don't forget to test it in different spots on the stone, not just one spot. Same with the glass test...use different spots. Wow, Kevin, your home is beautiful!!! Wondering if your house Is a trinity? Whatever, it's gorgeous. I met you in the bathroom forum. BTW, I live in central Jersey. I've called around to lots of stores and no one seems to have the.models of tubs I'm interested in. I did see the Edenton today however, so no need to post a close-up. But thank you anyone for the thought.. It is a nice tub. I was surprised how slippery the Edenton bottom is even with the texture (and I was looking for no texture at all!). I'm concerned since I need a tub/shower combo - but I really want a comfortable tub as part of that combo. Now I'm wondering if a bath mat will stick to the textured surface of the Edenton when I shower or will the texture prevent it from adhering to the bottom of the tub? Any insights, anyone?. You mentioned somewhere that if you had to do over, you'd choose the Hydrosystems Lacey. Can't seem to find one of those on display. Is the bottom of the Lacey textured like the Edenton or is it a smooth bottom? Where in Philly did you see the Lacey and other tubs you were considering? Thanks so much! They are called Dente Trading and they are a large wholesaler located in Cedar Grove. They are open weekdays by appointment only and Saturday mornings for walk ins. The woman I spoke to said they have several different Danby marbles in stock but not Imperial (which is the one everyone on this site seems to have). Click on the locations link on their website for the address and phone number.

These guys are fabricating my island slab. Embarrassingly, I have no idea what kind of marble I picked out, although I was just looking for a remnant (i have an iddy biddy island 2' x 5') so I have no idea what kind of marble they have, but they are a "Member of the Marble Institute of America" so maybe they'd be able to get it for you or help you out anyway.... Thanks momof3kids. By the way, malhgold, I just talked to the people at Dente and they only take appointments for Wednesdays and are open for walk ins Saturday mornings. They arent open to the public any other days. Good Luck.
