First the young pink Cherry Blossum trees , are they new ones growing away from the tree or are they up close to the tree or out in the lawn or on the tree trunk? If they are, usually they are suckers and may or may not grow true . A lot of nurseries that do the initial grafting use apple trees for the root and up to where the graft is performed. What that means is that is most fruit trees are grafted onto other tree roots and trunk . If the suckers are growing above the graft they may be cherry , if below the graft they would be whatever variety of tree the nursery used for grafting . If they have been grown from seed then perhaps they can be dug with their own root stalk . They should be able to be divided and may come true . It would require taking the cutting , dipping in the hormone , planting and firming the earth around the cutting and then somehow keeping it covered with a bottle or a clear lid and keeping the soil uniformly moist (never let it dry out ) and once you see new growth you would know it is rooted. It definitely would take some time .

Second I am curious to know which Rose of Sharon you are talking about with yellow blooms and that do not grow like a tree. Can you send a picture please . The only Rose of Sharon I am aware of are small trees. So you have my curiousity aroused.

Bleeding hearts should be fairly straight forward , Dig , pull plant out and divide . There maybe individual plants in the clump it would require taking a good look ( washing off some of the dirt ) to see . If it is all one plant you can slice through the root taking care not to damage the brittle roots . Actually there was a discussion about this on gardenweb in 2006 here is the link :

Thanks for replying :) I have always thought that there is only one plant called the Rose of Sharon (ROS). The ROS I have in mind, will start off growing like a shrub and if one prunes it properly, it will gradually grow into having one trunk with a cloud of flowers and branches up top - resembling a tree. It's not until I read another thread from garden forum (http://forums2.gardenweb.com/discussions/1591733/gathering-rose-of-sharon-seeds) that there is 2 different ROS!?! Yes, I am confused too. I am not sure if it exists, nor have i seen it. I simply typed that out in my message to point out what exactly I was looking for. So I'm sorry I don't have a picture for you. no ifraser, not alcea, it's althea which is a rose of sharon shrub or tree. mine are tree size. the one your refering to is more of a ground cover size. yep, there's 2 very different plants called rose of sharon. one is yellow & grows on the ground, which is what you're talking about. but, the originial poster is talking about the trees seeds. if you've never seen the trees do a search for althea. they are beautiful. & really easy to grow. mine are about the size of my lilacs."

About the cherry blossom trees, I'm afraid they are those suckers that are growing at the bottom of the trunk. They show up every year for all 3 of my trees. I tend to cut them away as I am not ready for taking care of a baby tree. I will upload some photos.

As for the Bleeding Hearts, I heard stories of people from the garden forum just jabbing their shovels into the plant just to separate them LOL. Since it's a super hardy resilient plant, all the stories turned out to be very successful. I think I will just dig through them just to be safe, haha.

Hi again Sophie H. Well , if you have lots of time and wont forget to make sure the soil stays moist you could try rooting your suckers. I would buy a # 3 rooting hormone . Lightly scrape the outer bark off the sucker about an inch up from the bottom cut . Dip in the rooting hormone , shake off the excess . Then pop into some moist soil and cover with a clear lid or a plastic bottle with some holes poked in the top (which is actually the bottom of the bottle to let transpiration occur) or place in fairly deep shade without the bottle and never let it dry out . It may take weeks or months I am not sure but once you see new growth you know you have succeeded .

Cant hurt to try.

It seems Hypericum is called Rose of Sharon in Britain and Australia. That would fit the description.
