Another very good source of mature hosta divisions is Northern Grown Perennials. I placed my first order with them late this summer and was very pleased with the plants. Prices are very reasonable, comparable to Green Mountain. Shipping is a little more expensive, it seemed but you do get a bonus plant from NGP. (You provide of list of bonus plant 'suggestions'.) I rec'd. Love Pat as a bonus and it was HUGE. NGP gets mentioned here every once in a while but prolly not often enough, given the quality of the plants I rec'd. (Order process isn't as slick as other sites, though but, IMO, it's well worth the xtra bit of hassle. One more source that I discovered this year is Bird Song Farm--they have a store on eBay and also a web site. The web site isn't active right now but will be in early Nov, according to info at the site. There are several different 'Bird Song' websites....you want the one that is located in Wisconsin. (No, I don't know them--just a happy customer.) (search for "Bird Song Farm Wisconsin eBay") Oh, and check back for hostas to be on sale, usually over the weekend. The hostas that I rec'd from them (Brother Stefan and Praying Hands) were what I would call advanced starters...I was satisfied with the size vs the price. Less satisfied with the clematis but the daylily (Elegant Candy) was terrific. (The clematis were the same size that you get from Donahue's.) Don't expect monster hosta plants but quality advanced starters. I always have a long list of hostas that I want and feel that I need to compromise with smaller plants sometimes to stretch the hosta dollar. I live in SC, and was able to visit Wayside in person. I was hoping to be able to browse their nursery and find some nice plants. They only have one section that is open to the public, and those are "sale" plants. I was very disappointed. If that were my nursery, I would have been embarrassed to have those things for sale - they were all in very poor condition. I didn't see the hydrangea I came for, so I asked at the counter, and they brought a few very nice plants from the greenhouse for me to pick through. Sounds like they are probably pulling plants from the sale section to mail out. After hearing all the horror stories, I would never mail order from Wayside.

Let's see if I can explain in the limited time I have; if I don't finish, I'll come back later or tomorrow. Have hubby's last chemo & radiation today. In my office I have a dual boot Windows machine - running XP (pro I think) and Vista. I also have the Mac. I have not tried to put Windows of any flavor on the Mac; it was on my list of things to do. I was going to buy the program verses what's on the Mac. My pain management Dr did it; he had some issues with drivers. Not sure if he did XP or Vista. The Mac worked fine at 1st. I was able to Network; I was able to access the Windows machine both sides. When on the Windows PC; I was able to access the Mac from both. I'm not sure what changed and when but eventually I wasn't able to access either puter - I made user accounts on Windows (both sides) and now am able to access Windows (both sides) from the Mac. The problem is accessing the Mac from Windows. Granted, it very well may be me; because I haven't been as "heavy" into building & using the computer since we moved. The most I do is work with pictures; for that I use Windows because the Mac photo program confuses me. I like Windows much better all the way around because of ease of use; software works & I can do things without reading a manual. With the Mac, I feel so stupid some days. I haven't installed anything except firefox.. forgot how. lol It's so simple too from what I remember but I have to get the dummy book to do it again. lol One thing that will not work on the Mac is my Microsoft Works. All of my medical databases are made with works. I looked for a Mac plug in (reader) but they don't have one. I also don't want to have to replace my full Office suite.

ALL I BOUGHT HAVE A SLIGHT MYRRH SCENT Tranquility, bushy, around 2.5 to 3 inches (three flushes but only 10 blooms or so all together) Claire Austin, starts as pale yellow and gets close to white, not as many petals, upright growth but then bloom flops, 3 inches (one flush just a week ago, 4 blooms I think?) Queen of Sweden,precious pink but don't have pics on this phone, upright bloom but takes forever to show any growth, 2 to 2.5 inches, pretty upright bush (one flush so far, about 6 blooms?) THE Pilgrim pretty pale yellow pompom, plant is growing arms is maybe trying to be a climber? 2 inches, tons of petals but bud and full bloom within a day, last photo as color contrast with Heirloom Rose's Happy Child bright yellow (first flush just yesterday 5 expected blooms) Overall --- not sure my Claire Austin will be good as of now only three main canes, several main canes were damaged and had canker, severe die back Tranquility is a quality rose and a winner for me Queen of Sweden and Pilgrim have weird growth habit, jury is still out LOOKING FORWARD TO OTHERS PICS AND OPINIONS ON THEIR PURCHASES!
