BTW.. probably winter damage ...

that type of damage is not related to lack of spring water ... its just not hot enough.. long enough.. for an evergreen like these.. to brown like that ... all inside a few weeks ....

Just wait it out. No, there is nothing reasonable you can do. I slightly disagree with Ken on the timing of that type of injury, though it ain't no thang. to me, that is quintessentially springtime damage, even though it is usually ascribed to winter. I've seen it many a time-arbs come through the winter just fine, but April winds get to them. Of course, it is difficult to determine exactly when the damage was initiated. But bottom line, don't try to do anything about it, short of waiting. You'll only make matters worse.

in my MI ... IMHO .. the damage happens in winter.. freeze drying winds or sunny winter days thawing otherwise frozen needles ..... on perhaps.. previously damaged parts ...

BUT ... being evergreen.. and cold as heck ... the EVERgreen ... doesnt brown ... until the temps start going up in spring .... when the damaged part starts drying ...

i have had conifers ... look just fine all winter ... nice and green .. and then just completely brown out..

did it die in winter... or spring.. who knows ...

these seem to have some sporadic damage .. it is NOT indicative of over all problems .... give them some time.. then prune out the dead stuff ...

if the whole thing was going brown.. or off color.. THEN i would worry ...
