I also have a king comforter in a queen duvet cover. My comforter is slightly bigger than the duvet cover, but doesn't cause a problem for me and fits much better than my queen comforter did. However, the best way to tell is to measure your duvet cover and then check the size of the comforter you order or buy. The actual measurements are usually listed along with the "king" or "queen" (at least when ordering online). That way you're not surprised. You'll find that sizes vary greatly--by as much as 8-10" on each side--while still being called "queen"!

My first down comforter was from Macy's (Charter Club House) and was a great deal. My second down comforter was from CalvinKlein.com and their sale with free shipping was less than the one Macy's sent me that was too big due to Macy's having the wrong measurements so I ordered the wrong size. I love my comforter since it is so warm and looks so nice in my duvet cover. I just checked the site and their were no special sales/deals like my 600 count Siberian Good Down Comforter with free shipping for $279.00 1.5 years ago. I used to use so many blankets to get warm and now I just use a duvet over this very warm comforter with my fancy ivory comforter on top for more warmth in the winter time. In the summer time, I am finding it just too warm.

Linelle, a wool-filled comforter is going to be heavier than a down comforter. I don't know how to describe the weight of a comforter, though, so when you ask if it's heavy, I really don't know how to answer that. If you sleep cold my advice is thus: Get wool socks and sleep in them. If your feet are warm, your body will be a lot warmer; Get a white goose down winter-weight comforter, a good one, and a flannel duvet cover for it from either LL Bean or Garnet Hill and sleep under ONLY that, no sheets. Kick it up so that the bottom of the comforter is under your feet, i.e.: like a sleeping bag, and the sides are pulled in right next to your body. You will be toasty warm. And putting duvet comers on comforters is NOT hard at all.

I'm bumping my thread in case someone knows the answer to my question. I'm amazed at the amount of raspberries the plants have produced this fall. I'm getting two handful raspberries every other day from a 24'x 96' raised bed of raspberry plants.
