True that you don't have a lot, but a little can go a long way. Feel free to sprinkle it in your beds as it gets made. Another idea is to make worm tea. I bought an inexpensive air bubbler (like for a fish aquarium), a few feet of clear tubing and an air stone. Then I put the compost in an old sock and tossed it in a 10-gal bucket of water. Add some unsulphered molasses (to feed the good bacteria that will grow), sink the air stone to the bottom and turn on the bubbler. Worm tea needs aeration. Cover the bucket (keep out of direct sun). Let all this sit and bubble for a few days. Use right away, because the moment you stop the bubbling, the tea begins to break down and you want all the good bacteria to go into the soil while it's healthy. Hope this helps.

Im thinking maybe adding compost from your own pile or bagged and save the worm castings to add to the actual planting holes or as mentioned you can make some worm tea and spray on the foiliage. Or just keep saving up for next summers gardening . I was in the same situation you are now. Your worm factory will speed up as the herd grows and you add trays. Mine sped up to wear I accumulated about 25gal from last summer till now which includes help from a homemade bin. The worm factory 360 is the most effecient of the two styles.

I like to use a tablespoon or two in each hole when I plant. This gets the good microbes and fertilizer right at the plant roots. You will be surprised how many plants you can start with that one gallon. Plus you will be getting more each month now so you can use to top dress around the plants as they grow.

Since Ive been using worm castings/vermicompost one fact seems to stand out. Whether it be in containers or in the ground this is not an overnight fix. I find though that after 3-4 weeks I begin to see the payoff. It seems that it works more like a time release effect, each time you water it releases more of the good nutrients to plant whatever that may be.
There is one other plus that stands out to prove the effectiveness of the castings. I do a lot over wintered cuttings and before I started using vc at times during the winter the cuttings would droop and I would add water or maybe some liquid seaweed, but since I started adding a little vc to each and every cutting there seems to be no drooping at all during those long winter months, just sayin. But if the soil becomes dry I still add some liquid.

I probably would put it around the plant roots or make compost tea with it, which is what I'm doing with mine.
