I think my money tree is dying?

I've had my money tree for about a year now,but it's still pretty young. I repotted it into a bigger pot and placed it outside on the porch. Then it started wilting and losing all its leaves. Anyone have any ideas on how to help it?

You overwatered it. That pot is way too big, and is filled with wet, soggy soil. You'll need to get it out of that pot and wash away all soil, to get a look at the roots, if there are any left. Now would be a good time to read up on gritty mix or 5-1-1 mix on the forums here.

You dont say where your located, maybe putting it outside on the porch was to much of a shock. Others will give you more info than I can.

If you don't ever repot, the expanding root system will eventually die and cannot hold water if most of the soil is eventually used up. Of course you have to repot, just do it carefully.

transplant shock followed by sunburn .. did you put it in full sun after being in the house all winter ... soil looks improper for a tree .. of which we need an ID ... i think its a norfolk island pine.. but i am not sure ... why do you think its a spruce??? and the media looks dry ... and too peaty... never fertilize a stressed plant ... good luck ken

I don't see why sunlight would have affected the roots. anyway, put it in a bright spot (southern window) and just leave it be for a while. Since most or all of the leaves have died, it's going to be using very little water. That said, cut way back on watering. Do not fertalize either. just give it time and it'll probably put out some new growth. Leaves that are grown indoors can't just be placed in full sun. They're not used to that. You need to slowly acclimate the plant if you want it grown in full sun. New leaves that do grow in full sun will not burn as they'll grow already acclimated to the higher light levels.

I live in Michigan,sorry. I kept it inside through the winter but brought it out a couple days ago. I haven't watered it,that's how the soil came. The roots seem pretty intact, they aren't rotting or anything. Thank you,guys!

I meant I haven't really watered it since I repotted it into the large pot and gave it new soil. I put a little water in there,then put it in indirect sunlight. It's pretty humid and between 50-70 degrees throughout the day and night. It was in a really small pot, so I got a larger pot and new soil but I just did that a couple days ago when I moved the plant outside.
