You can get your plant through the winter in the soil it's in by getting your watering under control. Use a wooden dowel rod sharpened in a pencil sharpener pushed deep into the soil (all the way to the bottom is best) as a 'tell'. Don't water until it comes out dry. Your planting won't actually BE dry at that point because there will still be some available water, but the planting will need watering at that point. When you water, water thoroughly, until the soil is fully saturated and at least 20% of the total volume of water applied exits the pot. After the pot has stopped draining (and don't let it drain into the cache pot) hold the pot in one hand and move it downward, then sharply upward. You'll see the excess water the soil holds exiting the drain hole at this point. Continue the up/down motion until no more water exits the drain. You will have removed all the excess water that causes to problem. Then, allow the pot to dry down to the point you can repeat the watering cycle. You can fertilize each time you water, or every other time with low doses. Josh knows a lot about jades, so he can cover that with you, or I can if Josh is busy elsewhere. The water that drains out of the drain hole should never have a pathway back into the soil in the pot. That would, to a large degree, make moot the practice of flushing salts from the soil. Al

I had the same type of jade, with a gazillion stems, but I wanted to grow a single jade tree. So divided the plant into about 8 separate jade plants. To do it, I let the soil dry enough til easy to work with, then tipped it out of the pot onto newspaper with my hand still underneath for leverage. Shook the plant a little and the stems started falling apart in clumps. That helped me decide how I wanted to divide it. I took the innermost stem and planted it in its own pot because it was straight like a tree, then some of the others I kept two or three together, depending on how I wanted them to look. Some were curved, and some were straight. Once placed in smaller pots with adequate soil, water them and see how they do! My jade didn't miss a beat. It was fun to create a bunch of smaller plants, and I shared with my friends, who very much appreciated a free plant! The innermost stem that was straight (that I potted to grow in tree form) is now developing a woody stem just like I wanted. Can't wait to see what it does this summer!

I think it is quite etiolated - long and contorted stems that have been turning toward any available light. I believe I see at least couple of dry/dead stems too? I don't think that is serious problem, maybe it wasn't watered enough. Plant's leaves look good otherwise. White dots are most likely some salt/minerals deposits from water that can be wiped off easily - not much problem there. Oldest leaves often yellow up, dry up and fall off. But yellowing could be caused by overwatering too - in that case, they feel soft, full of water and almost translucent yellowish color. That means soil is not draining well and the roots are sitting in wet muck. That would be problem for most plants. I can't tell from the photo. If there are many leaves yellowing at more-or-less same time, I would consider checking the roots. I would cut off all dead branches (they will fall off anyway). Decide how you want plant to look. Some prefer droopy branches - I prefer more compact growth with thicker trunks. Depending how you want plant to look, it should be pruned. It definitely should be given much more light than it had before. If light happens to come from mostly one direction, turn it 1/4 turn every week or two to expose all sides as equally as possible. I would amend the 'soil' you used by adding lots of sifted or rinsed perlite, It seems to be water retaining - succulents should have very good drainage. You can check if the potting mix is dry or still wet before you water. Use bamboo skewer or chopstick. Insert deep into the pot trying to avoid roots. Take it out after few minutes. If dry and clean - time to water. If damp - cold and has even some particles sticking to it, make sure you don't water. Check again in few days. Edited to add: air roots are not much of problem; sometimes they may grow if there is plenty of humidity. It is suggested that they may grow if plant is thirsty - but rather check the soil for that. Air roots could be rubbed off, eventually they will dry up. If you take cutting and it has air roots, they will most likely continue growing. But jade cuttings root very easily, so you don't have to worry about having air roots on them.

Truly I just left it alone and treated it the same as I had, just making sure it was watered during the long heat spells we've had. Those photos are about 2 months apart, but as a tiny propagation it doesn't do anything very quickly. The jade in the first pic thats out of focus, that one got some burned tips too. It shed them and I couldn't tell anything was different a few weeks later. Yours will likely shed some of its leaves with burnt tips. Your plant shows signs of your weariness to over water, and with a Jade it's not a big deal. It'll bounce back and recover from almost anything. If it still looks wrinkled like in the photo, I would let it soak in water for a half a day or so, and then pour some more fresh water through it afterward. Then I'd leave it be until the soil was dried again.
