I need to make a few last minute changes - Help please1
Comments (40)If you're talking about the bathroom off the Rumpus room, the only thing I think you really need to do is make it a tiny bit wider. I would bring the bathroom wall out even with the edge of the Rumpus Room's built-in cabinets so that there is a little more "standing room" in front of the toilet and the shower is a little bigger. Then, if window placement will allow you to do so, for the convenience of guests staying in the guest room, you might mirror image the whole bathroom vertically so that the sink (and door) are up close to the guest room and the shower is down by the built-in cabinets. That would save your guests a few steps to reach the toilet in the middle of the night. Now stop obsessing! There ARE only so many ways to arrange a toilet, a shower, and a vanity. LOL! The whole upstairs looks fantastic. Great theater room, nice large play room with plenty of room for a bar sink and fridge and storage of games/toys, a balcony that'll be big enough to actually sit out on to enjoy the view, AND easy access to the unfinished attic! I think you've done good! Now how about having your architect revise the elevation drawings and post those just so we can see them? Comments (2)I'm not clear if you've replaced the vanities, which do need replacing if you're going to the expense of new granite, sink, and faucet. I don't see why you'd want to make those permanent, expensive changes based around a design scheme of outdated peach wallpaper....See Morelast minute details...rethinking granite...panic!
Comments (6)Kiwilee, I have the exact configuration....off white cabinets with a mocha glaze. I chose star beach granite which is more like your Key West than the other granite. My sink is a black silgranit and my faucet is an oil rubbed bronze which looks almost black. I would choose the key west....the other granite really does not go with the cabinets. You do want things to tie. I posted pictures of my sink, faucet, granite and a little bit of my cabs on threads that ask for back splashes for a good cause and the faucet thread. I wish I could figure again how I posted those pictures, and I would post you the same here...but alas I am electronically challenged. search luvmyhouse_2010 and maybe it will bring up my pics?...See MoreDemo starts tomorrow - give me your last minute advice please
Comments (22)Best of luck with your remodel! Mine is in week six and heading into the homestretch! Things I hadn't thought of ahead of time that I wished I had - the lighting plan. Go to an lighting store with your layout and have them give you a recommendation on overhead and undercabinet lighting. There are so many options available today than just 6" cans. Also the color, location and orientation of the outlets, especially on the backsplash area. Paint color - took me 3 weeks to find a paint color I liked. Make sure you have extra trim - my contractor needed to use some extra trim molding so I had to order more which held things up. Also pick out your cabinet hardware and decide where you want to place them on the cabinets. As everyone said, take lots of pictures and get some earplugs! It can be very noisy at times! Good luck!...See MoreUser
