Favorite Story (get your hanky out)
Comments (13)I am not sure if I got this story right, it's been a while since I heard it. But it is true. There once was a little boy, maybe eight or nine, who wanted to be a gymnast. He spent hours on his jungle gym and monkey bars, building his strength and training himself to do things. That was his only goal, to be a famous gymnast like Olga- she was his hero. (I forget her last name. She won a gold medal in the olympics, I think.) However, he contracted a disease that weakened and eventually killed him before he turned eleven. His parents, naturally were heartbroken to watch him suffer, but even more so in understanding that his one dream would never come true. One year after he died, they happened to look at the mokey bars, now sadly empty. But underneath the bars, where the earth was packed as hard as iron, were two blood-red lilies. It was as if he was saying, "It's okay, mom and dad, I am fine. I can do things here that I could never do at home." The lilies never bloomed again....See Morerelocation to Tulsa
Comments (10)Sorry that I did not directly address the question of what areas of town are growing. For years Tulsa has mainly developed south and east. Currently the Southern developement has pretty much reached Bixby, and the Southeast development now borders with Broken Arrow. A trend in the northeast portion of town which leads toward Owasso consists of fairly constant industrial tract development. Even Owasso does not seem to want to grow toward that area. Instead, Owasso seems to be experiencing rapid northward growth, along with slight northeast and northwest growth of that town. Lots of new additions are quickly filling the open and treed fields in both southeast and northwest Broken Arrow. that growth also includes the northeast part of Tulsa which borders along that part of Broken Arrow. The Towns of Bixby and Jenks have managed to hold onto their small town feel for a long time. the development and spread there is only about half or even less the rate of Tulsa. In the extreme section of Jenks around 121-151 streets South and just west of the river. There are still many vacant fields. A planned bridge is projected to be built over the river from 121st South in Tulsa, and ending at 131st street South in Jenks. This new bridge effort is promoting quite a few new additions to prop up in anticipation of the easy access the bridge would provide to that area. With out the bridge residents of that area either must drive all the way down to 151st, drive west through Bixby and back north up memorial drive to cross the river into Tulsa, or they have to to drive northward and through the often times congested small downtown area of Jenks to access the other bridge around 91st street to access the central part of south, midtown and downton Tulsa. For that reason many people have avoided populating those fertile fields. There currently is strong opposition pressure coming from a South Tulsa residence group and a few others to prevent the proposed new bridge from being built. Even if it does get built the currently proposed toll to be charged for crossing the bridge could prove fairly daunting for those who might depend on using it at least twice daily. You do not mention a concern for the need of access to a good school system. You also do not mention if you desire to purchase property which will be an investment to go up in value as time goes along. Most likely letting either of those issues prevail in your choice will set you inline with ending up in the more or soon to be congested parts of town with all their busy streets. Of course if money is not limited, even in the most congested parts of town there are tucked away neighborhoods that are on large lots, walled in and gated, which go a long way toward buffering against the undesired congestion activity. One other point is the fact that ground has been broken for Tulsa's next major shopping area. It is located along State Highway 75 and Tulsa's west 71st street. That area is actually west of the river in Tulsa. It is a given that major housing and retail development will fill this currently underdeveloped part of Tulsa and prove to be the next big wave of growth. If the newly proposed bridge does not get built the property in southern Jenks should stay rather rural feeling for at least a couple more decades. The little hidden valley mentioned in my first responding post most likely should stay hidden, not because developers do not know about that location, but more because they do not think the money they invest to build huge houses there will ever generate the great profits for them as much as the more trendy more expansive areas they can currently see and rush their focus upon....See MoreLost My Favorites, Email Addresses and Desktop Folders
Comments (8)Windows Vista Recovery is a fake computer analysis and optimization program that displays fake information in order to scare you into believing that there is an issue with your computer. Windows Vista Recovery is installed via Trojans that display false error messages and security warnings on the infected computer. These messages will state that there is something wrong with your computer's hard drive and then suggests that you download and install a program that can fix the problem. When you click on of these alerts, Windows Vista Recovery will automatically be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Once installed, Windows Vista Recovery will be configured to start automatically when you login to Windows. Once started, it will display numerous error messages when you attempt to launch programs or delete files. Windows Vista Recovery will then prompt you to scan your computer, which will then find a variety of errors that it states it cannot fix until you purchase the program. When you use the so-called defragment tool it will state that it needs to run in Safe Mode and then show a fake Safe Mode background that pretends to defrag your computer. As this program is a scam do not be scared into purchasing the program when you see its alerts. To further make it seem like your computer is not operating correctly, Windows Vista Recovery will also make it so that certain folders on your computer display no contents. When opening these folders, such as C:\Windows\System32\ or various drive letters, instead of seeing the normal list of files it will instead display a different folder's contents or make it appear as if the folder is empty. This is done to make it seem like there is corruption on your hard drive that is causing your files to not be displayed. You should follow the instructions in the link provided.. I would not suggest attempting to remove this yourself.. Here is a link that might be useful: Malware help!...See MoreWhy and what is your favorite browser
Comments (24)For some reason, I just cannot fall in love with Firefox, even though I have had it on my computers through various versions including 3.5. And IE is absolutely so slow, even v.8 that I use it only when I have to. I keep going back to Opera since I have never had the problems that others have had with GW. I do use Chrome to view a few websites, just because I like to keep it up to date. It's nice and fast and both it and Opera are not loaded down with a bunch of add-ons---just not necessary....See More- 11 years ago
