Makes me smile too. I'd turned on the news in the bedroom for a few minutes before getting up but I hadn't heard baby had arrived. And I don't even know why this is interesting to us but it will be fun to see a picture and learn her name. She's a big healthy girl already ;)

A new fashionista! Can't wait to see the little princess in her first photos and all those that follow! Now we wonder. Does she look like dad or mom?

I, too, am thrilled by the new little princess.. I had always been a "fan" of Diana and can you imagine how happy she would be...If she's anything like her big brother, she'll be a cutie......

Yes, very nice news. Maybe this will be the year of girls. Joe's niece is due any day now, she is having a girl. And my nephew's wife is due later this year, they don't want to find out the sex, but I'm hoping for a girl.

How big is she? Always love to see a new baby!

The baby was 8-3, I believe. Here's a picture of the three of them on the hospital steps. That was quick! I can relate . . . I went home 3 hours after my last baby was born. But the photographers weren't lined up to snap my picture. :-)

I have to say I was so impressed looking at the pictures of the Duke of Cambridge carrying Prince George up the steps to the hospital. Prince George was shy, but waved to the crowd. I saw a picture (I think from when he was born-wish I had saved it) looking out from the doorway showing the media circus across the street. I know, if I was not quite two years old, I'd be scared to death and probably screaming my head off. He is obviously being trained (as he needs to be) to deal with it. I can't imagine living like that every day...

Glad mother and daughter are happy and healthy.

She's adorable and I'm happy for them. I am, though, confused about the fascination with the family in the US. I don't understand why there's fanfare here. But I'm certainly not saying anything's wrong with it, just that I don't quite get it.

I'm an unashamed Anglophile and am tickled pink over the little girl - although I was hoping for a boy so George (who on Earth would name a sweet baby boy 'George' ?) would have a close male sibling.

Thanks, Alisande. I cannot imagine, even with makeup and a hairstylist, how Kate can look the same as she does on every other outing! No look of exhaustion or pain, yet I KNOW how one feels after child birth. It must be nice to go home to tons of help, though. :)

In some of the pictures I think she looks very much like her brother. Same cheeks and lips. Either way, they will be quite a pair, although I don't envy them all the celebrity and what goes with it.

Caroline, many people have named their sweet baby boys George. I guess you have a personal objection to it, but it's a fine name of long standing.

I've assumed that little George was named after King George VI, the queen's father. Charles was also named after him.....George is one of his given names.

My favorite uncle was named George (after his father and his grandfather and I couldn't trace the family tree back farther than that). Every time I see a news story about Prince George, I'm reminded of my Uncle George only because of the name. Makes me smile.

Sylvia: Funny you should mention "a Beatle"! The other day, I saw a photo of a chalkboard betting board in London that had "Ringo" last on the name list! But it's still possible -- the odds for that name are 500 to 1! (Hey, it could be much worse than that!)

I like it! I had a beautiful Aunt Charlotte, and my granddaughter's name is Elizabeth. I'm sure they factored both into their decision. :-)

I'm glad they included Diana too. I'm also glad they didn't name her Pippa.

I've loved everything British since The Beatles arrived! My best friend Sue and I tried to learn English money (pounds,shillings,pence). We wanted to move to England after we graduated High School. Sue now lives in Canada, at least it's part of the British Empire!
