The kitchen layout is different in each floorplan. Which one are you using? FWIW, I prefer the kitchen-only floorplan. Much more efficient and easy to work in.

What style of cabinets and look do you want? Traditional, transitional, modern, what? The type of hood would change depending on the style you're going for.

What do you plan on storing in the current spice pull-outs in the plan? If spices, I don't blame you for not wanting pull-outs. Personally, I hate them. How about a regular cabinet with spice racks on the inside door? And then either those stair-step type inserts or lazy susans for other spices? I would put the most frequently used ones on the inside of the door and the ones used less often on the shelf units.

I apologize. I didn't realize my floor plan was old kitchen set-up. Yes, the only kitchen is the set up I want. It's what forum members helped me decide on.

I like traditional kitchens. I use simple plastic bins to store my spices. I am short. I keep a label on the front of the bin and organize my spices alphabetically. Those go behind a cabinet door.

I remember your old thread and am glad you decided on that layout. Much better!

Would your bin idea still work for you in the width of the upper cabinets planned there? If your bins are too wide, maybe you can find narrow bins? If you really like it, just stay with that idea and find a way to make it work.

I'm sorry I'm not much help with the hood. Hopefully someone with a good eye for that will pop in. I would encourage you to browse through tons of photos of kitchens with wood-covered hoods until you find ones you like better and then taking that photo to your KD.

Texas, closing off one of the openings has popped up now and again. The opening on the left is next to garage. Otherwise we would need to walk 25 feet from garage into kitchen.

The hallway is long. And the architect wanted both openings for good flow. The home is a one story. Children's bedrooms and guest are all on that side.

Texas you actually have given me an idea. I can calling cabinet person today. If I need a couple of inches for balance. I can shave them off the pantry and move the opening slightly. Thank you so much for encourging me to look again

I don't like them either. I actually wouldn't want anything (pullout, decoration whatever) reaching or close to counter around the range.

Did you see this topic? Looks like with some hood designs vents can be visible. If that is something you'd prefer to avoid it might be worthwhile to check it before your cabs are built.

I'm confused about the left/right side of the range. If the garage is on the side where your cleanup counter is then you'd have to walk that 25 feet anyway, since both the fridge and the pantry is at the other end. Or am I missing something?

Don't call the cabinet person yet. I interpret texasgal's suggestion as
closing the other door, for continuous countertop between range and
sink. (Left of range if you are standing in front of it.) I'd consider
switching the prep sink and MW drawer--if someone wants to take
something from the fridge to heat in the MW, they don't need to cross
your work space. Trash pull-out can go on the corner by prep sink, shared by prep and clean-up areas. If you do close the door, since that won't be a traffic path, I'd make the top aisle 48".
