GE Single/Double Wall Oven-Under Counter Mount
Comments (2)Thanks for that, Iowacommute! My Miele-built in oven just died ($1400 for replacing a couple of knobs that quit working and won't turn off; amazing), and I'm looking around. Have seen many, many compact double ovens in other parts of the world and would love to buy American (as the parts for the foreign ones are so expensive). The GE could be the ticket. I took the last hour looking at every brand mentioned on a couple of appliance websites and GE appears to be the ONLY one making this. Thanks again! Comments (6)I've had all three -- double wall ovens for many years, a free standing range for two years before my remodel, and currently a Bosch 500 wall oven with a Bosch 500 induction cooktop above. Obviouslly the raised wall oven is the most comfortable if one has the space. The deciding factors for the current configuration were (1) my desire to make a small kitchen appear as large as possible which I believe has been accomplished. Clean unbroken lines with almost no protrusion of a large appliance gives the eye continuous movement around the kitchen; and (2) the fact that as an empty nester I rarely bake any longer so the bending issue is not that important. Like Sara the Brit, I have not found the lower oven to be any more of an issue than the oven in the free standing range, no discomfort from bending. Also like Sara, my countertops had to be raised an inch to allow for the required air flow between the induction cooktop and oven below. Unless you have a bad back, I say go for it....See More30 Wolf wall oven under counter next to 48 Sub Z
Comments (0)It's final cabinet layout time and I am questioning every decision I have made over an 18 month planning process. I went back to the appliance showroom yesterday to look at the 30" Wolf wall oven that I plan to mount under the counter away from the stove top area. I think the control panel will start about 3" under the counter. Has anyone else done this? If so, have you had any problems being able to view the controls? Also- did you use a 24" deep cab, or did you extend depth to 26" or 27"? The install specs seem to require an extended depth unless the back panel of the cab is removed. This oven will be on the same wall as the Sub Z 48" counter depth. I looked carefully at the installation yesterday and it seems like the most integrated look of a wood paneled Sub Z requires a 2-3" build out from standard cab depth. So, I was thinking that it might make sense to make the whole cab run in this area about 27" deep....See MoreDouble oven, wall oven, under-counter mount oven
Comments (6)I currently have an electric coil cook top, double wall ovens and the MW on the counter. My new kitchen will have a Bosch 500 series 36" gas cook top and a 30" Whirlpool regular double wall oven. The MW will go in a nook above a counter. I love having wall ovens so I don't have to bend over. When I help in a kitchen with a regular stove if feels awkward use the oven. Also, I've had both of my hips replaced and I cook enough that that type of thing matters. I went low middle of the road with my appliances and am reusing some. After reading here about the temperamental nature and need for uber exhaust with the high end ranges, I didn't feel for my needs it was worth the extra money. I'm putting my money into cabinets and good mechanical / plumbing....See MoreLE
