Glacial Rock Dust adds minerals to the soil
Comments (10)I think that the dust will add some valuable micro minerals. Just don't expect things to pop super high and fast. As far as aluminum goes, clay soil has perhaps 12 - 14 % aluminum in bound up forms. Your dust likely has aluminum too...not to worry in normal ph soils. I believe that Azomite listed 6 ppm in lead which is likely to be less than your soil already has. Likely most soils already contain arsenic, and minor contents of cadmium, mercury, and such. If you presently live on planet earth, you would have a hard time avoiding them 100%....See Moreis rock dust safe?
Comments (5)I just copied this excerpt from The Survival of Civilization. " I didnt have a lot of money, so I kept bugging my dad to order a few bags, remembered Jared. He reluctantly gave in. When the bags arrived, I sprinkled two tomato soup cans around each baby tree. After 100 trees, his bags were empty, so his other 400 saplings got none. "The next spring, Jared watched his unfertilized trees grow 12 inches. But the Azomite-treated trees grew fully three feet in one spring spurt! In Jareds years working in his familys shade tree business, this was unprecedented beyond imagination! The results were just amazing! enthused Jared. "Impressed by these results, Jared bought more to sprinkle around all his trees . In the family garden, too, where the effect was similar bigger, stronger plants, with one further benefit. The taste of the vegetables is dramatically different, reported Jared. Its a great taste!"...See MoreEuroBlooms benefits Susan G. Comments (28)Well I guess we all know that buying these bulbs can be a pig in a poke, but they looked good and it's sooo very hard to resist. And, it's for a very good cause..your Nymph is beautiful but I hope I don't end up with another as I've acquired 3 already and I only bought one! If anyone ends up with a Jungle Star this year through a mislabel or otherwise please please let me know what you bought and where you bought it!! Kristi's Grand Cru is beautiful..I can't believe the number of flowers..time will tell what I get! Last year I bought about 25/30 bulbs from nurseries and about 1/3 were mislabeled but I have to joyfully say that not one was virused! I did loose a couple to rot though... Comments (16)People often lost sight of the fact that most soils have gobs of trace minerals, most of which are not being utilized (or even mobile at any one time). I blame the mineral supplement people at least partly. It all depends on what your soil is, so the discussion is at a disadvantage without that. But unless you are growing in pure silica sand (which rarely occurs anywhere, if you look closely at sand it will usually have all different colors of rocks represented), you will likely have plenty. As for depleting it and not putting it back, I suppose if you didn't import anything to your yard, there would be a nonzero risk of that if your soil was poor. But most of us import compost, and we import food as well, and compost the scraps. We don't live in a bubble. Just for kicks, let's look at one mineral and one vegetable. How about zucchini, which according to the following link http://www.lenntech.com/fruit-vegetable-mineral-content.htm has 0.7 mg Zn per 100 mg. Background Zn in my Missouri clay runs about 60 mg/kg. How many pounds of zucchini would I have to remove from to top 6" of a 20x20 ft garden to deplete the Zn by 50%?...See MoreUser
