Even the dogs have flowered dog collars...
Comments (9)I am the same - just love flowers and roses in particular. I have been making them out of polymer clay since the early 80's. You can see some of my work in my eBay shop - Rose Paradise. There are brooches, necklaces and even bridal tiaras decorated with roses. I would like to learn the art of silk flower making - very rare this days. Does anybody know of any good books/ tools suppliers for this craft? I would be very grateful for help. Love to all. Comments (12)Like Meghane, I also have an irrational fear of the dogs escaping our fenced yard. But, both of them have gotten their collar (leather buckle type stuck) on the gate fence post. Both pups were left dangling by the neck. Luckily, I was there for both of these scary situations. Flanagan was lying on the porch and I had the front door open so I could hear him (and could also see him if I walked to the door to look through the screen) anyway, I heard him try to get up, then I heard him struggling. I thought he might have fallen and hurt one of his legs. When I was right next to him I saw the real problem. Part of his collar (a choke type collar) had slid down between the floor boards and then when he tried to move it caused the circle loop to turn sideways. The more he struggled the tighter the collar got. He couldn't breathe. It was a very lucky thing that I was there and got to him so fast. That was the first time...so that's when we decided to switch collar types. Now they never wear their collars but I'm still so afraid of them ever getting out of the yard by accident or chance. Silly...See MoreBest Collar for dog?
Comments (2)I would suggest trying a Martingale collar. The benefits of a choke or prong collar, only gentler. Linked below is some information. The collars themselves look just like regular buckle collars. Here is a link that might be useful: clicky...See MoreNo-pull harness for dogs?
Comments (16)Cyn, great tips except for the fact that my dog isn't food motivated at all. She actually went to boot camp for 3 weeks a few months after we got her from a rescue and really is well behaved except when she sees a strange dog. And it's not overtly aggressive either. She really wants to meet the dogs she sees, (ie, pulling) but she has the worst social skills ever. I try to act like the approaching dog is a friend ("oh, look!" (high, happy voice,) "A puppy wants to play!"--all dogs are "puppies") It always starts well for a few moments with sniffing and circling, but then my dog weirds out in some subtle way that only dogs pick up on and then the OTHER dog usually growls or snaps at her, leaving other dog's owner to remark that their dog never does that. I believe them. My dog brings out the worst in other without growling or snapping. She is just a strange bird. (She was a rescue that was a stray.) She is a ball of nervous energy and the walks help tremendously. I know her. I get that dog interaction. (aside from our other two) is difficult for her so I am not trying to change her into a social butterfly. I just want easier walks. Hopefully the twohounds harness will work. It shipped yesterday. On a positive note, her nails are neatly trimmed from pulling on the roads....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
