Thank you all for your input on what to put in the green pot this spring. Funny, I would have thought most of you had a green pot somewhere. This will be one of my only ceramic pots actually, and I have been wanting one. Norma, were you referring to Diamond Frost Euphorbia? So petunias, lobelia....what about a tall plant to add? Can I put lobelia and petunias together? Will they both do part sun? Marian...you have daff leaves showing? When does your spring begin? I saw an interesting pot at the Mall yesterday. It was a free form shape that was black and not sure what material. It looked heavy. It was high, about mid thigh or higher. They had a very large dark sanseveria in the middle of it, in a sea of chartreuse pothos. Two very common plants, but what a nice effect in that black pot.

Some garlics produce larger bulbils than others. I grew german white porcelain bulbils this last season and none of them grew larger than a marble. I 'sowed' them in rows 3" apart with about a 1/2" spacing, and the plants came up with at most 1/8" diameter stems. The bulbils themselves though were only about the size of rice grains, this year I got some turbin garlic bulbils that are already 1/4" - which I imagine will produce considerably larger plants. Since the plants are small the first year, you could easily grow many in a 1g nursery pot and save the trouble of trying to protect them around weeds and taller plants that would out-compete them.

Hi Breezey! Wonderful opportunity! Digging it up and moving it whole would be a major undertaking. It would wilt very bad as well, but would recover. Being that the plant you are planning to move sounds even larger than my giant gold, and that would be a pain to move...literally speaking. Mine, I cut everything back to no higher than 5 feet, so it can grow during the Winter/Spring to the ceiling web covering of 7 feet or so. You have a couple options. This one is the most expensive, but best and safest, plus easiest for you. One go to the yellow pages and find a tree service, greenhouse, or tree nursery that has a tree spade. For probably $100, they use the tree spade to dig a hole in your yard, then dig up the brug in full and plant in your hole. The take the plug from your hole to put in your neighbor's spot where the brug used to be. To manually dig up something this size and move it would probably take 2 or 3 strong men. And a large piece of use carpet or rug to put it on and then drag it to your place. Another option is to cut everything off above 6 feet or so and leave just the trunks. Then did it up and move it. The last option is to cut it off at the ground. Dig up the rootball, plant the rootball in your yard, and it will send up large tall trunks starting within 2 months. Of course you can make lots of large cuttings from the last two methods. Post a current picture of it if you can? Wildcat

Lynne, I love your little grey 'ornament'. LOL. Cats and trees just sort of go together huh? But that is one reason I don't put up a big tree now, I can't imagine the mischief Jazz would get in to. Years past, when kids were at home and I had a big tree, my old cats never ever climbed one. Just lay among the presents and occasionally took lower ornaments off. I'm sure 3 of mine would do that now, but Jazz isn't one of them! My fat cat couldn't get off the ground, and never gets into trouble! Eating is her only exercise in fact. I get such a kick out of Christmas photos with cats in trees and laying in the middle of a Village! Funny as long as its not mine I guess. LOL. hugs, Karen
