Mother In Law Tongue and sphagnum

I have read this:

http://www.uwex.edu/ces/4h/pubs/showdoc.cfm?documentid=336

"Soil Mixtur. Amounts of each are usually given in ratios: for example, 2:1:1 (2 parts soil: 1 part peat moss: 1 part sand). This particular mix is good for most tropical plants but a 1:1:1 mixture may be substituted for the 2:1:1 when plastic containers are used."

A 1:1:2 mix (1 part soil: 1 part peat moss: 2 parts sand) is good for cacti and succulent plants in clay.

I have a Mother In Law Tongue so I can think that I need use 1:1:2 mix. I can buy a live sphagnum or dead sphagnum moss. What's better? Is there a big difference between them for my Mother In Law Tongue?

I have found this information in Internet. "It slows down moisture from evaporating from the pot. If
it's an orchid that likes to dry out, live Sphagnum would not be good
because it can't dry out. If it likes constant moisture, then it would
be fine. I think it'd be great for Phragmipediums since they like water
"

Do you think that live Sphagnum will not be good because Mother In Law Tongue likes dry soil?
