Need help with office paint color
Comments (5)I had SW Shagreen in one of my rooms at my last house, and loved it. I also used Parakeet when we finished our basement, and that was a stunning color! But that one is a VERY bright green....See MoreNeed Help With New Office
Comments (1)Bumping this up to see if you can get some response about the picture size. I wish I could help but without seeing the pictures I can't give advice. It sounds like you work hard, you need a nice space! How about a low maintenance plant in a pretty pot on your desk and/or some branches in a big vase in the corner. You could also add a desk blotter, colored desk organizers and a nice lamp if you have room on your desk....See MoreNeed help with office colors
Comments (3)Thanks, decoenthusiaste! I'm definitely taking that into consideration, but since this is a room I can see from nearly every room on the first floor I also want to make sure it flows well visually through the house and that the colors create the right working environment. I agree with a blackout curtain. I have blinds behind the sheers that I'll be using during the calls in the meantime, otherwise it reflects. I may also move the furniture around once it's painted so that the wall is behind me instead of a window - or create a conference corner... Light fixture is definitely going. What do you think of something like these? I'd like to remove the chair rail as well. It may end up being a timing thing though as whatever we do in here will need to be completed over a weekend. The last time we pulled chair rail off in this house it was a PITA, and I'm assuming they also stained this one in place which means fixing the gaps on the window and door casings/trim. Small thing - but when you have two little ones underfoot weekend projects can take longer then planned! ;)...See MoreNeed help picking office colour ASAP
Comments (15)In a room like yours, drawing a colour up over the walls and on to the ceilings, helps minimise boundaries, blurring edges, which all adds to a greater sense of airiness. The contrast between walls and ceiling lessens. Just something to note though, the same colour painted on the wall and on the ceiling can render that bit darker and greyer when viewed on the plane above your head. One way is to find a similar, but lighter and slightly more colourful version of the wall colour for the ceiling, knowing it will likely end up being a little darker and more greyed and so evening out the contrast once again. So here is a similar colour to the walls, but a tiny bit lighter and more colourful. The very slight difference may or may not be worth it to you. If the late afternoon sun beams into the space, these colours are likely to bleach-out and become even lighter and more silvered....See Moretibbrix
