Thanks, Susie. My refrigerator died in February and have finally narrowed a new one down to the Fridgidaire or the Kitchenaid. The Fridgedair is the best looking one. I do know that it is made by Electrolux and when I try to research refrigerators I come up with the same conclusion I did 8 years ago. There is no good refrigerator out there. I just hope whatever I buy will last seven years trouble free.

So are you saying the Kenmore Elite has the deeper shelves? I was eyeing the Elite Frenc door fridge with the water dispenser in the door. The dispenser pops open when you need it and has a clean look instead of looking like an eyesore like many of the dispensers do.

Yoyoma, Does the frig that you saw have water/ice dispenser thru the door? I called Kitchen Aid and they said they do have this new model coming out , but it is not in the stores yet and they do not know when it will be available. I need to pick out a frig and give the dimensions to my cabinet store so he can order cabinets. Since my other other appliances i picked out are KA, i wanted to stay with that brand. Also, what was the price on it? Thanks for any advice.

Which Counter-Depth French Door Fridge?

We have had the frigidaire in two houses and been very pleased. Installed it in a reno in 2012 and like it a lot -- liked the large capacity in a counter depth, liked the fact that we could get it without a water dispenser/ice maker in the door. It felt large and worked perfectly fine the whole two years we lived there. We had to move unexpected after two years across the country and did another reno, and installed it again because it had worked well before and why risk something new when you know you liked the first one?

We have had the fridgidaire counter depth french door unit in two different houses and found it totally sufficient for 2 adults and kid. It did not have a water dispenser, which freed up a lot of space. We are not food hoarders, and tend to only have a few days at a time. I don't think CD fridges (or any fridges, for that matter), work well for people who go to costco once a month and stock up on everything. We also prefer to have an extra fridge in the garage for beer, soda and freezer overflow during the holidays. We are currently in a house where we inherited a kitchenaid CD fridge and hate it. Like the fridigdaire, it doesn't have a water dispenser. But it is amazing how much smaller the interior space is compared with the fridigeaire. For instance, on the shelf on the right hand door where you keep milk -- the fridgidaire fit exactly two gallons of milk. This one only fits one and a couple miscellaneous drink bottles (like 2 wine bottles, or a wine and OJ bottle). My son drinks milk with breakfast every day, so when we are low on milk, we always buy another gallon. Before we run out of the last one. Which means the extra gallon ALWAYS has to be shoved into one of the main shelves on its side. So agree with others - confirm that the interior space is good usable space. I highly recommend the fridgidaire model.

We bought a " big" Maytag 6 years ago and I love it. It has been a great machine. It has a bottom pull out freezer and I love this feature. I debated one of the French door ones but was concerned with my many grandkids and the doors. Hope you find what you are looking for..

We haven't had good luck with Frigidaires. My 42" GE Monogram side by side is 15 years old and working perfectly. (Hope I'm not jinxing it by saying so!)

I have a counter depth side x side Kitchenaid w/ ice & water on the door....love it....about 12 years old ...so far...

I would HATE having a freezer on the bottom. Everything would be a big piled up mess. I'd constantly be digging through it. ...the oldest things on the bottom...no organization...if I'd wanted one of those I'd have gotton a Viking sub zero. JMO
