I thought the camera touch button had to be on the right side for Apple products. Oh dear me.

Sherry, I use my iPad 90% of the time to take pics. I'm not sure I understand the orientation you are referring to. When I hold my iPad, it is usually in landscape position..I've never thought much about it, I guess I prefer it that way? The sound and on/off buttons are on top left.

Babka's right...the camera button should be on right side. If it is not, move your iPad around (upside down, sideways etc) until the button is on the right.

To clarify, this is the postion my iPad needed to be to orient the pictures correctly.

Thank you Sherry for posting this. Sideways photos are a real aggravation to some of us (mostly me, I think). However, to those on IPads, the Ipad/Iphone photos always appear right side up, as I understand it.

Sherry, did that picture post the way you expected? When my iPad is held in landscape orientation with the user facing camera (small black dot) on the right as in your pic, my sound toggle switch is on the bottom. I take photos with my iPhone and use iCloud to send them to my iPad and post from there. I've heard fewer complaints about the orientation of my pics lately, but maybe people are being nice or just giving up.

Positioning is weird. I guess it depends on the device. What other people see ain't necessarily what you see when you long on. I just discovered that on my Nexus Android 7" tablet, I cannot read whole messages on this forum. It lops off the right side of the post. So it it looks good to you, it might not look the same to others. My sister has an Ipad and sends me photos that are always sideways. They look just fine to her when she sees the message. Too much technology?

Hey folks, this is all quite interesting to me because.....I HAVE AN APPLE iPhone coming soon very soon. My Samsung Galaxy S5 camera quit and it is not repairable, nobody told me it was a piece of trash when I got it, specifically to take garden pictures. Well, drats. But now.....I hope things are looking up.....however, I have no experience with Apple products, and it will be a wild ride upside down or right side up. BKay, don't kill me yet. Sigh....
At least, one thing is okay around here, and that is my African grey parrot who was lost for over a week is now safely home, and I can go ahead and go crazy for other reasons--like the remodel--I still don't have a stove or a dishwasher or a sink, and I'm soooo looking forward to the job being done before the AHS Convention!

Anyway, this picture was taken with my old (very old) Sony Cybershot T-700 if I remember correctly. No problem orienting the pictures.

I don't load my pictures to iCloud yet. They are in my " camera roll " for now. When I oriented the iPad the "correct way" as stated above, my pictures loaded upside down. Had to turn my iPad like pictured above for Houzz to load them right side up......always something......just glad I figured it out early in the season.

Well, Sherry, I cannot get iTunes to install on my Windows 7 computer, so I may have some issues connecting the new iPhone to it later on. I'll play this hand out one card at a time. I need iTunes to download apps they say. And, it is a problem perhaps related to Norton Antivirus...which is what I use....may have to change that too. Why cannot things be simple?

Well, Santa, I'm going Mac. I hear that Windows is coming out with Win 10 but that does not impress me. My Win7 computer may be my last such product. Perhaps a Mac Airbook or whatever, I'll ask my granddaughters to advise. They are all MacApple fans. All of them should be able to communicate is how I look at it. Tower of Babel is right, Kathy.

We have never had anything in our house except a Mac, and have had several of them over the years. One of the greatest things about Apple is their customer support. IME a bad tech call is a 9 on a scale of 1-10. I do have a Windows phone but that's because I don't use it much and an iPhone is not compatible with my ATT GoPhone service.

My son got me a Mac desktop for Christmas, and I'm loving it. The photos are gorgeous. Between that and my Kindle HD, I'm a happy camper.

I thank you both for the testimonials. I'm looking forward to the arrival of my new iPhone 6+...perhaps it will go fine with my Kindle Fire HDX. One reason I went that route was the apps available. Have you tried one called WaterLog? It transforms photos into water color paintings and such as that. It is to be my first app purchase.

Sad to say, I cannot install iTunes on my Windows 7 computer. I'll have to get rid of Norton AVirus and try again.

Probably all you need to do is deactivate it . Then install iTunes and reactivate.

That is what I had to do...but forgot about it since it was almost two and a half years ago now!

Thanks for the testimonial on what worked, Jo, and how to do it, Sunny. The fact it doesn't want to let me install just adds another nail in Windows coffin for me. I'll give it a go.
