after overseeding, my water bill is how much??? did i over do it?
Comments (15)I was charged $400 for the meter when the irrigation system was put in because it was done at the same time. I paid it then, so it's probably not added to this bill. 10 minutes per zone doesn't seem like enough to me. When I was first watering, I did 20 minutes, and within an hour, the first zone was completely bone dry on the top. Well I'm just hoping that the areas that still have to come in, do so with just watering once a day in the morning for a week, and then 2-3 times next week, and the back to my normal schedule the week after for what is left of the watering season before my system gets shut off. Oh yes, and my $183 wasn't for one month, that was spread out over 3 months. I pay quarterly....See Moremy water bill
Comments (9)Call them and tell them you can read a meter as well as they can and it is wrong - way wrong. Tell them if it was within $25 of being correct, you would not complain and accept the credit later but since it is way out of line they need to come read it again. Ask them if they have extra money to lend you out of their personal pockets to help pay the unfairly assessed bill. If the decline, tell them to come read it again. Y'all better be glad you don't live in Jefferson County and have Bham water. In the last 10 years sewer rates have gone up 300%. My sewer bill is almost twice my water bill. Water has gone up several times. It seems since the drought of 2000-2001, between sewer rate hikes and water conservation, BWWB users have saved so much water the water board had to raise rates to generate more revenue. We are in a stage 2 drought condition and Bham water users are not supposed to water lawns or wash cars except certain days; however, the water board let a huge broken water main bubble hundreds of thousand of gallons of water after it was reported for over a week because they didn;t have anyone to look at it. TV news had to bring their attention to it. BTW, two former JEFFCO commissioners who were in charge of the sewers have been convicted of corruption. One of the water board members is mayor of a small Bham suburb and someone I've known since grammar school. He has voted to raise rates and waste money several times. He knows better because he was like me, he barely had a pot to P in as he was growing up. Sylvia and I once received a $2000 gas bill. Oops, they had replaced the meter and didn't record it. She panicked and I just laughed and called ALAGASCO to tell them to read the meter and re-bill me. Rosie, don't let them screw with you on this. Comments (15)This would be a very good filling for a cake, because it is stiffer than most mousses, so it should take the weight of a layer on top of it without it squishing out. I used a Maryann cake pan, with the recess in the top of the pan used for a filling. Here is the mousse recipe: Bittersweet Mousse 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate coarsely chopped ( I used Scharffenberger) 2 egg yolks beaten 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup water 1-1/2 cup whipping cream, separated 1. In a small sauce pan, combine chopped chocolate, egg yolks, sugar, water, and 1/2 cup of the whipping cream. Cook over medium heat until mixture starts to bubble around edges * I hate chopping chocolate, so I just melted the whole mess in a double boiler or it could scorch the milk before the 1 oz. chunks of chocolate melted. After it was melted, I removed the bottom of the double boiler and brought the top pan with the chocolate back to a light boil. 2. Remove the chocolate mix and set the whole pan into a large bowl of ice water. Cool, stirring frequently. This took about 10 minutes. Stir hard and often so it doesn't turn back into a hard mess. ( You could skip this step and just cool naturally, but it would take a lot longer) 3. In a chilled mixing bowl beat remaining 1 cup of whipping cream just until thickened. Do not beat to soft peaks or it will be too stiff. ** If using this for a filling on a layer cake, go ahead and whip until peaks form. It will stiffen the mousse up to hold a layer cake nicely. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture. *** Normally this is a careful process of not overworking the mousse to keep it lighter. However, I love the thick, spongy-like density of the chocolate mixture from mixing it in well. Besides, the chocolate mixture is pretty thick, and you must beat hard to mix in the whipped cream. Cover and chill 2-24 hours. This is super super simple and very very tasty. Sorry I did not have time to take pix. I am having a chocolate bar at my soup party on the 28th. I will try to take a picture then. Linda, I had the edible flowers on hand cause I bought them for a french silk pie I was making for the neighbors, but ended up not making it, so they were on hand and needed to be used, LOL....See MoreReducing electric bill by increasing power factor?
Comments (40)Brickeyee, I do know how much power I consumed on the days the testing occurred. I am one of those anal folk who keep a daily log (generally at 6:30 a.m. give or take 15 minutes) of power consumption. The first day of testing was Saturday October 11. 24 hours later the meter showed I consumed 46 KWH of power. The second day of testing was Sunday October 12. 24 hours later the meter showed I once again consumed 46 KWH of power. Similar temps. My results, therefore, are not meaningless. The unit works. That was the second tme I had done the test as recorded on the Tree Hugger forums, but only the first time I had published them. The first time I simply took the readings. The second time (published) I was carefult to record everything that was on/off, temps, times, etc. Short of taking the house into a laboratory, it doesn't get any better for real world testing. For those who utilize inductive motors such as found on heat pumps, hot tubs, freezers, refrigerators (no, they don't have to be old, either), this unit works well. If you don't have these types of units, don't buy one. You won't really get the benefit. The results are what they are. Sorry if you are one of those people who refuse to accept results that may run counter to your theory....See MoreUser
