OT Easter
Comments (18)Oh my. Snow still Edward? Avedon, I do not have Napoleon, but it is one that I need. Oddly enough, while I majored in math in college, I minored in history, and I especially loved (and took several courses in The French Revolution and Napoleon). I know, wound up an RN, but that's a whole 'nother story. Anyway, I am very happy with the way Chinas grow here. That is a nice plant for the Rose's feet, and Belinda finally woke up and started blooming here too. It never fails...I should never have allowed them in the new rose areas since he appeared to have erased Omoshira...I planted it deep, however, so it will probably reemerge. I am glad that alsomst all of us seem to be having decent weather. kay...See MoreWhat Is Your Menu for Easter This Year?
Comments (61)I'm going to have to try that next time I have a small ham. I still have the 11.6 lb one in the freezer I have to do something with but that won't fit in my slowcooker. Our ham turned out well today - put foil in bottom of broiler pan, put in the ham and poured the juices from the shrink wrap over it, then brought foil up around it and sealed it tightly with double-folded seams. Warmed in preheated 325 oven for 45 min and then I was afraid my parents would be late (they weren't, but I was busy getting veggies done) so I turned the oven off and left it in another 30 min, it was very moist and not overly salty as I feared a non-smoked ham would be (and I got liquid on a scrape on my finger, so I know it WAS salted, though not salt-cured dry ham!). But it could have used some glaze or other flavoring IMHO - I think a little sugar/pineapple juice would have been nice. I hope the ham next Sunday is as good (I think I should freeze some of the leftovers, my parents only took a third of them, we're going to be tired of ham by next weekend!)....See MoreEaster Plans
Comments (59)The ham is in the crock pot, the squash casserole is in the other crock pot. I have sweet potatoes and baked beans yet to make which are easy peasy. I baked the biscuits yesterday. Then just some appetizers...fresh veggies, dip, cheese, crackers, nuts. I did get the carrot cake from costco (only 2 left!) and I bought some madeleines which I love. The rest, the family can fill in as they wish. My gift to myself is to not make myself crazy over these get togethers as I usually do. I'm going to take it easy, be calm and enjoy it -- like all my guests get to do too!...See MoreEaster 2020 dinner?
Comments (69)I think I made the layered salad once many years ago for some kind of party. At the time I was quite put off by the iceberg lettuce (ick) and the mayonnaise, to say nothing of the bacon, but it was easy and could be made ahead of time. Haven't thought of that recipes in years, but thanks to this thread I went on a search of ways to modify the recipe to make a healthy version, similar to what Seagrass mentioned above. I dunno though, it just doesn't spark joy for me so I think I will pass. Thanks for GC Science I MUST make a lemon meringue pie today. Now that sparks joy and is a better use of sugar!...See Morewisconsitom
