I did two smaller bathrooms a few years ago with Dal tile Rittenhouse in Arctic White, and I too have a matching chair rail from Dal tile. No idea what it is, but I will tell you it matches perfectly. Goes along the top of the wainscotting tile into the shower and back out of the shower into the wainscotting again. My favorite thing is how the shower door glass guys actually cut the door glass perfectly around the chair rail. It's stunning, seamless and water tight. Anyway, I can dig thru my garage and see if there's a box with chair rail in it, but I seriously doubt it. All I know is I asked for a chair rail, and voila, my tile guy found one.

I was in the same situation. Looking at Deckover, Restore and a couple other deck "coverings". I would urge you to do a lot of reading. All these products from Rust-o-leum, Behr, Olympic, etc have terrible reviews. They all seem to start peeling in a year or two no matter how careful you are with installation. For that reason I am researching and probably going with a solid stain. Hope this helps.

Gscience, we were not planning on power washing. Did a pro do it for you or was it DIY? When you redid the color, did you strip first? RE: the light color on a horizontal surface-- that is where the gray is going. I am not sure how dark yet. Nosoccer, yes, I have the same reservations. Tibb, what do you suggest instead? Holly, I hear you on the prep, but when you say low-quality materials, what is the alternative? Corgimum, yes, I agree about Restore. I was only considering it for vertical surfaces, and only because of the color. Just Retired, would you please tell me more about the product you used to strip the paint? I would prefer to strip the deck as well, but have to convince DH it is worth it. DH is basing his opinion on our neighbors' experience. They had a painted deck, and only sanded (didn't strip) as needed last summer, and used Deckover. We had a terrible winter, with endless snow, and they said this yr the deck looks great with only a few minor issues. It's only been a year . . .but at least good so far. This is what has convinced my DH. I suppose if we strip the deck, then we could stain, as Just said. If we go that route, what products do you recommend? Seems everything I read gets bad or iffy reviews, even ones recommended by pros. (And I know there are many factors, like prep, climate, etc.)

IMO, there's nothing wrong with brass, shiny or dull, in or out, if you like it. That lamp had cheap base metal parts that were plated, and the plating was showing some wear. I also found it's mate at another thrift, months ago (what are the chances?) and the metal parts of that one had turned an almost silver color. I used a metallic paint on them, because I wasn't bothered by the brassiness, I just wanted something a little darker and richer than what it was. There's a product called No Prep Metal Paint that does a great job, and I think sticks better to the metal than spray paint. My pics don't really show it, but in person, the original shades were huge, and just overwhelmed the lamp, so I liked the shorter, curvier shades much better.
