Citrus rootstock roots of any use for piece-root grafts?

I bought some citrus trees today and potted them. In the process I pruned of some pencil-thick roots that I thought was not going to support good root structure going forward. I have kept them in zipper bag with some damp peat moss in the mean time.

Question is have anyone tried piece-root grafts of citrus or is there anything I can try in terms of propagating some rootstock from these to graft later. Looks like some might be rough lemon and others are tri-foliate (based on shoots below graft). It is fall now in the part of the world where I live. I am also trying to make cuttings from the shoots below the graft.
