Did you read through this thread? These are moisture loving plants & I know I have personally stated in this thread that I've only succeeded in growing these in Terrariums or the bathroom next to my Shower. Short answer, no I don't think you can take the bottle off w/out the plant wilting again. They really need high humidity, Smart idea this bottle & nice job. Perhaps try to fund some glass vessel to use in place of the bottle for aesthetics (if you care abt that). So you're new to Houseplants? These aren't really beginner plants as you're discovering. Maybe pop over to the Terrarium Forum & do some reading. Don't know how active it is these days. These plants won't propagate from just individual leaves alone. You need to make tip cuttings which are cuttings comprised of at least 2 pairs of leaves for these plants. Put them in soil or moist Perlite & seal in w/ a dome or Cling plastic like Saran to conserve their moisture.

#1 - needs a bigger pot #2 needs much smaller pot - remember pot diameter - 1/3 of the leaves diameter #3 bad soil - probably it is your repotting - the soil on #4 and 5 looks OK. nothing really bad on ##4,5,6 - some varieties hug the pots unless supported. #4 has some mechanical damage and a bad leaf - remove it. Do you use fertilizer? Get the one that is designated for AVs and use 1/8 of a teaspoon per gallon every watering. Watering - water when the pot gets light and remove the run off in 15 min. Do not overwater #3, this is the one that can croak - it looks sad - either from repotting - or from rot from overwatering. Hard to tell. If it is rot - it is a goner, if it is stressed from repotting - it will recover. #1 brown leaves - probably needs fertilizer. I woud say - leach the soil - sometimes old soil gets salty or acid - run water through it, let it dry - and start using fertilizer - ratio above. Stop stressing - and either read whatever you can find - on this site, on AVSA site, on Rachelsreflections.org site, get a book in a library - or best of all - get yourself a buddy who can show you the ropes. Check on AVSA.org affiliate list if there is a club near you - and contact them. If there is somebody who lives near you - ask this person for help, show and tell - AV people are very generous with advice - and mostly are the nicest people of the town. Good Luck irina

I usually let mine hang for 6 weeks or so before trimming and storing in hanging mesh baskets... I have also been consuming since it was hung... think i posted this somewhere else, but, Jolj: when u ship it use some of those silica gel packs that come w/ electronics, shoes, etc; im sure u can even purchase them somewhere online. If anything should happen & it has to sit in the box for an extended period of time they should absorb all of the excess moisture, if there even happens to be any.

fittonia is a 'fainter' when it gets dry. It just suddenly flops over. Water it, and it will perk right up. Your soil definitely looks dried out. Give it many small drinks over the next day or two so that you don't have pockets of dried out soil in the pot.
