Weekend quilting plans April 2-3
Comments (9)Wow, the weekend is almost over ... I didn't think I would get to quilt at all but that changed today. Friday night an open house at church, Saturday the weather was fabulous yesterday so we were out & about - then to hockey playoff game (our Colorado Eagles won in overtime so they are tied 1-1 in a best of 5 series). Today the storm arrived SEVERAL hours early so I finished machine quilting a twin size quilt and will hand stitch the binding while we watch a movie later. I'm actually thankful for the icky weather for more than quilting reasons. There is a wildfire burning about 10 miles outside of town - 4500 acres & 15 homes destroyed so far - so the cold weather, rain/snow mix has helped some. If the wind would just quit! Comments (35)Rosa, I'm sorry that happened to you! I should take my own advice... I wanted to sew in the living room so I could watch TV so I took the machine off the bedroom desk and put it on a table in front of the sofa... started to stitch and snap! The machine locked up and the display said "safety device activated"... at least I found the part of the needle that broke off and it didn't land inside the machine... my machine defaults to the left needle position when you turn it on, and if I'd been sewing in my normal spot I'd have remembered to change it, but with the moving to the living room bit thrown in to the mix, I simply forgot. Sometimes, mechanical machines that stay where we put them are best! I have a nice new gouge in my new quarter inch foot now... I guess it can be called a battle scar :o)...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? March 3-5
Comments (9)I need to get that mystery quilt off of the design board so I can play with some scrappy rail fence blocks I've made. I'm anxious to see if they'll look decent enough for a donation quilt. If not, I'll keep it or leave it in the van. So, guess I'll still be trying to get the mystery quilt together......it's closer than it was last week-end. lol 5PM Saturday: No quilting yet......Took care of a few things and then sleeping and setting in my chair most of the day....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (8)I would love to attend a Bonnie Hunter class. I have been inspired by her website. Congrats again, Theresa. I'm so happy you won those blocks. I spent several hours at Blue Bamboo yesterday going through all their fabric. Everything is 50% off and I got some great backing fabrics for $3.99 per yard. I picked up 2 yards of a rust-colored Asian print and several complimentary half yard cuts to make another View from the Cabin quilt. I still need some colors for the log cabins that I wasn't able to find there. I found border fabric for my One Block Wonder and backing for Star-Struck. I also found background and border fabric for String X, another Bonnie Hunter scrappy that I'm working on. All told, I spent $117 for 22 yards of top of the line fabrics. That's $5.32 per yard on average. I'm a happy camper....See Morejennifer_in_va
