Weekend quilting plans April 2-3

Do you have plans to quilt this weekend? I want to load another quilt on the frame, my small twister, and maybe the table runner and place mats if I'm really ambitious. I quilted the large twister last weekend and the quilt group's baby quilt this week. And as always, working on the DWR. (I really haven't done much work on it lately.)

I have a quilt on the frame ready to start. After I got home from work I spent about an hour raking up debris from the big storms we had the other day, so now I can quilt tomorrow!

I am taking a workshop today given by Sandra Smith thru our Guild. It should be different. Looks like what I used to make as a little girl ~LOL~ only all grown up and gorgeous!

Deary day here - waiting patiently for sun and spring.

Happy birthday, Thersa. Enjoy your holiday. I'm just going outside to power wash my sailboat which is sitting in my driveway. I hate, hate, hate this job. I have to climb up a ladder to get into the boat and then wrestle with hoses and stumble around stepping over ropes and other fittings all about 7 feet over the driveway. I always think about falling off. Besides, it's only 46 degrees outside. I'll be dressed up in foul weather gear and boots, and I'll be getting wet. Yuck! Got to get it done, because our first race is May 15, and she still needs to be launched and rigged. Good thing I love sailing so much. Later, I hope to keep working on my husband's quilt. I have 19 of the 32 main blocks finished. Maybe a little FMQ on my scrap quilt too. Oh, and we have a new grandson, Marshall Ronald, born April 24, 8 pounds, 8 ounces. Now I can finish the Peekaboo Monkeys label.

Thanks to everyone who responded about me sewing through my finger the other weekend... I got a cold or allergy attack right after that and didn't spend much time on the computer, but the finger has healed completely with no infection and I'm back to sewing... so glad I wasn't too traumatized to sew ever again! I literally *just* finished the a tote bag for an aunt whose birthday was December 11th... I was going to make a wall hanging, but after about 4 tries, I never got anything I was happy with, so I did a tote instead... I finally got all my "free favors" for friends done... hemmed pajamas, embroidered over a hole in some pants, and reversed a button and hole to turn a woman's jacket into a man's... I have a picture of the embroidery... my friend found some nice pants at a thrift store and the only problem was a hole in the back... so I gave him a link to check out some embroidery designs and this is what he chose... a cowboy hat... Here's the tote... I'm going to Heat N Bond a heart and the aunt's name (that I will embroider on another piece of fabric) and call it done... Every bit of the fabric was stuff I inherited from my grandmother... hopefully she's smiling down, glad it's being put to good use.

Well last weekend I finished sewing together my Grandma's queensize quilt top, still have the border to make for it. And last week I got a large sage green king sheet for the backing, but still need to go to Hancocks this week and get 3 spools of hand quilting sage green thread. Yesterday I made plastic templates for my April Lotto blocks. So tonight and this week will be making my Lotto blocks. And I was delighted to find baby sprouts of giant zinnia and cosmos in my garden this week that my son and I planted. Last year we had awful drought and lost all of my annuals. So far this year we have had good rains so am very thankful for that and am hoping I have annual blooms and am able to collect seeds to replenish my seedbox this year. Since we did not have much of a winter in Louisiana this year the bugs and fire ants are bad and the snakes are really bad with it being so warm. Already killed 2 snakes in the garage this year and apparently I now have a 2 1/2 ft long resident chicken snake in my 16 ft x 20 ft flowerbed it seems to have a hole somewhere amongst my best daylilies, so I have not gotten up the nerve to try and dig and divide daylilies this year. And everywhere locally is sold out of mothballs which run snakes, hopefully local stores will restock soon. Best to you, Sandra

I'm packing for retreat also. I'm off to the copy store because a friend suggested zeroxing a pattern instead of taking the whole magazine to retreat to cut down on the weight. Well, duh! Should have thought of that. So, today I'm cutting down on weight in suitcase, thinking through process so I don't forget something and finding clothes that won't take up lots of space but still keep my body clothed. And, I'll be doing a bit of applique as I watch my ball game.

I cut out the last 2 BD blocks last night and will probably work on those. Other than that, I'll be putzing around and packing a suitcase for DGS to take back to Indiana with him. Not checking any bags this time! WoooooHooooo....

Donna, Glad you're only having to clear up debris. Amazing that some still don't have power. Extended family in Largo were spared as they only lost a fence.

I'm hoping to cut strips for an Irish Chain quilt for my daughter. However I'm babysitting my new grandson so he might have other ideas. Also my quilt guild is having a Truck Show today with Eleanor Burn's sister. Wish I could be there but the little man comes first.

So far I have spent the morning programming the new super-duper radio I chose for my 15th year anniversary present with my employer. It is in the kitchen so I could put the other radio/cd player in my sewing room. Now I can have the company of Josh Groban, ABBA, Johnny Mathis, the Eagles, Gershwin, et al while I'm sewing! I'll be a happy quilter all the live long day!

Each day this week I have been sewing for about an hour on the flying geese and 4 patch blocks needed for the Flying Off to Bali Bali quilt. So this weekend I will continue to make more blocks for this quilt and maybe get around to sandwiching the Building Blocks baby quilt. But I also need very, very, VERY badly to clean on my house. :o(

No quilting for me this weekend. Family in town. I'm glad they are here but I'm getting anxious to do some quilting! I haven't had time in over 3 weeks to even turn on the machine!

It's sort of like withdrawal pains when we can't get to the machine. I have done very little this past month, besides that $%#% wonky pinwheel, which is waiting to be assembled. But I did do 2 lotto blocks which I shall mail out tomorrow.

Wow, the weekend is almost over ... I didn't think I would get to quilt at all but that changed today. Friday night an open house at church, Saturday the weather was fabulous yesterday so we were out & about - then to hockey playoff game (our Colorado Eagles won in overtime so they are tied 1-1 in a best of 5 series). Today the storm arrived SEVERAL hours early so I finished machine quilting a twin size quilt and will hand stitch the binding while we watch a movie later. I'm actually thankful for the icky weather for more than quilting reasons. There is a wildfire burning about 10 miles outside of town - 4500 acres & 15 homes destroyed so far - so the cold weather, rain/snow mix has helped some. If the wind would just quit!

Where did the weekend go???? We took the kids to Pigeon Forge, TN for the weekend and saw the play, The Miracle Theater (story of Jesus from birth to resurrection). Then after dinner and checking into our hotel, we went to the Comedy Barn. The next morning we went through the Titanic museum that my ds was so anxious to visit. We had a great time, but I'm tired.... I did get to sew a little in the car, but it wasn't much.
