Fungus gnat problem? Not today!

My mother has struggled with fungus gnats every year for her seedlings. This year, they came after the Amaryllis I have in the kitchen. I was praying that they wouldn't get to the ones in my bedroom, but yesterday when I checked on them, I found one flying about.

NOT TODAY, BUGGY.

I ran out to the garage, where my mother keeps all of her plant foods and soils. A few weeks prior, I bought this stuff called gnatnix! at my local nursery. It was very affordable too, for $7 dollars. (It covered over 15 Amaryllis in pots and I have a lot left over)

It's 100% recycled spun glass. It's a physical barrier to the gnats and they can't live on the soil! All you do is cover the soil with the stones. It doesn't interfere with watering either. I put it on all my Amaryllis, and the gnats are nowhere to be found! (Plus if you have them inside, it makes them look pretty. Here are some of mine :)

I hope this helps you out if you're having issues with fungus gnats!
