Jenn Air 3.4 vs. Thermador 4.2 cubic feet in each wall oven?
Comments (4)What you didn't say was why you were set on the Jenn-Air to start with; only what drew you to the Thermador. Definitely compare notes on whether each one gives you what you're looking for in a wall oven. If they're similarly priced and both have all the features you need/desire, then I would search reviews for both on GW as well as other sites like epinions, consumer reports, etc. and then make my decision. Make sure to check the ovens out in person to compare what you see about physical quality & workmanship. I haven't read alot of good about the Jenn-Air appliances on GW (alhtough they look really nice in photos), but I also wasn't looking at a 27" wall oven. On the flip side, my mom has a Thermador 30" double wall oven and has had a few minor problems that have turned into major headaches until they were fixed. Does she love the way the food turns out from that oven? YES!! Would she trade it if given a chance? No way!! (but she would have vented it to the outside vs. having those darn fans run for what seems like hours after use.) Bottom line, do your homework beyond the usable interior space & choose the one that best fits your needs and (based on reviews) will give you the least hassle down the road. Good luck!...See MoreRecommend a $2k wall oven please?
Comments (10)I would first ask why do you want convection? Do yo want true convection(also called European or third element convection) mainly useful when your oven is really full or would just an oven with a fan be Ok? You might not need to spend that much if you don't need the electronics. That being said, in the 2K range, I would look at Electrolux. I have had one for almost 4 years and it is bakes and roasts very well. Any brand can have problem, but it seems if anyone has had problems,on these boards, that Electrolux has been very responsive. I also have a Wolf oven in my range and you would be hard pressed to find much difference in performance. The Electrolux does have a lot of different baking and roasting modes and consequently some electronics. I personally would be hesitant to buy the refurbished unit, without a factory warranty mentioned above due to the electronics. They can be very expensive to fix. If you buy an oven with electronics, I would buy the extended warranty, unless you have somebody that can work on it....See More48" range w/ 2 ovens or 36" w/ dbl wall ovens?
Comments (28)A little late to the party, but here's another vote for 48" range if your kitchen can handle it and your lifestyle could use it. You don't need to host lavish parties to use 48" of cooktop and two ovens. Cooking is a serious hobby of mine and I've needed as little as 3 burners at a time to feed 30+, and I've used 6ish simultaneously to feed two. More often than me using all these burners for fancy meals is the two scenarios I don't see mentioned as often on this forum: 1. 48" of cooktop makes it more comfortable for two people to cook at once. 2. You don't need to use 8 burners to make good use of 48" of real estate. I have stock pots that will crowd out 3 burners. I use mine primarily for whole lobster, and large batches of pasta and potatoes, the possibilities are endless. I have several woks that will crowd out 3 burners each. I can make two different stir fries at once with a few side dishes and take up all 8 burners worth of space. I think at the the end of the day, if you aren't sure you need 48" of burner space you probably don't. As many very insightful people mentioned above it depends on your situation....See MoreRetrofit cabinet to fit a 2 pc wall oven combo from a 3 pc unit
Comments (6)That’s too bad, but great that you have extra matching wood available. The kitchen cabinet project seems like an OK job for a “handyman” with some woodworking skills (as in low risk for you as a limited scale project, not much coordination with subs or waiting on materials). Your bathroom projects are obviously more complicated with waterproofing, tile, plumbing involved. . I bought that same triple oven unit @2006 because it was 27” wide (not a popular size and difficult to find 27” ovens!) to replace an old double oven, and had to carve out the cabinet below to make the hole bigger. When the microwave died a couple of years ago, Thermador said it had been discontinued, but turns out they never really made the microwave anyway, it was from another manufacturer and still available. We did have a matching 30” single oven in the kitchen too, but found we just never used it (not even for huge meals) the 27“ size was great for everything and heated up faster. (and too bad about the center warming drawer not available, we used that a lot and was the right height for serving or self-serve buffet stuff and keep it protected.)...See Moreoaptechgirl
