Pullout storage for 12" wide x 15" deep base cabinet
Comments (10)Well, I'm disappointed! I did not know that IKEA Sektion discontinued 12 inch drawers. I have an Akurum kitchen, with 2 12 inch, a 15 inch and 18" pull out, plus I hacked pullouts under my sink and converted another base cabinet. I was going to suggest ordering 12 inch door parts and attaching them to the 12 inch door. But since they no longer make 12 inch drawers that's not possible. It's really too bad since the 12 inch can act as filler many times and I find them quite useful. I have a 15 inch pullout next to my range that holds oils and other baking items. I do like the function of the drawers that pull out independently though since it can become very difficult to reach items when they are all attached to the door. Mine only has the base attached to the door with two independent drawers that I spaced according to the height of my items. I do actually like the Sektion 12 inch pull out since one side of it is not attached so it looks like it will be easy to reach items. I'd like it even better if I could add a small drawer pull out at the top of it. Sorry I was premature in my assumption that the new line would be more similar to the old in function. Hope you find what works for you....See MoreWhat size for oil/sauce pullout?
Comments (18)I have two 6" filler pullouts flanking my cooktop. If it's a filler pullout, then unless you have large bottles of oil, I think a 6" will be fine. Note that mine are filler pullouts, not cabinets. Filler pullouts have more space than cabinets b/c they don't have walls - they attach to the cabinets on either side. However, if you have a range, not a cooktop, then you will probably have to use a cabinet. I don't know if a 6" cabinet will have enough room - measure your bottles and then check with your KD about what the usable shelf width is in the cabinet pullout. The usable shelf width of my filler pullouts is 4.75" - the actual interior space b/w the "rails" on each side of the pullout shelf. So, any bottle that's 4.75" wide or less should fit. Regardless of which you get, get one that has adjustable shelves. My KD company cheaped out on me and did not get me the one with adjustable shelves. My filler pullouts: . Comments (3)how many cleaning bottles/etc do you have . I would do a 15 in shelf installed with brackets into studs. then find plastic totes w finger grips or a lip so easy to handle in sm-med sizes and pull the tote down off the shelf when you must go digging for whatever you need to store. Usually the detergent and softener would be the main thing you are getting and you could just reach and grab them out of the tote while tote stays on shelf. Easier. Cheaper. safer. If you are storing a lot of other household things...get something from Rubbermaid or similar from a big box store.....a cabinet w shelves behind doors or shelving that rests on floor...and find floor space....See MoreIkea cabinets trash pullout in half of 30" cabinet connected to door?
Comments (35)Feel free to have a good laugh, we do all the time! This hack cost us 0 dollars, just a couple of glasses of wine and troubleshooting. At first we had string on the Ikea trash can lid but it broke too easily so hubby pulled out the cable wire, strung it though the back of the cabinet and out through the front, not really sure why. A quick trip to the backyard brought a brick, some packing tape and AC foam tape to really secure this sucker down. My trash can doesn't wobble, shake or budge on any level, it's whisper quiet. My "must haves" was a secure garbage can with a pop up lid, put in a shallow counter (not under the sink) and cost effective (not an expensive custom build, this is all Ikea) plus it lights up! I use the non-string bags and 2 office clips to hold the bag in place, the lid is taped to the can as well. We live in 519 sq feet so every inch counts. Definitely not for everyone but we love it and get countless compliments and grins from all who visit....See MoreSharon
